With the warmer weather, it’s important to stay hydrated!

Adults should aim to drink around 1.5 – 2 litres of fluid each day (between 6–8 mugs/glasses of fluid).

The best choices are water, lower fat milk, and sugar free drinks including tea and coffee.

When you’re feeling unwell it’s important you get the right care from the right place.

If you’re thinking of attending the Emergency Department or Minor Injuries Unit our Phone First service can save you time and help you avoid busy waiting rooms.

Ring 0300 123 1 123 and get advice directly from a triage nurse.

Phone First is available Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm (excluding bank holidays).

It’s accessible through Text Relay by dialling 18001 0300 123 1 123 or download the SignVideo app.

Phone First can be used for any urgent injuries or illness which are not immediately life-threatening.

In an emergency, including stroke, heart attack, loss of consciousness, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding or major trauma, always call 999.

When out and about over the summer, make sure you’re only bringing home fond memories, not an E. coli infection. 🐑🐣 Wash hands thoroughly using soap and water after handling animals or touching surfaces and hands should always be washed before eating or drinking and after using the toilet. Antibacterial hand gels and wipes are not a substitute for washing hands.
