What a privilege it was to present my workshop “The Space between Selves: Navigating the self-concept in parenthood” at the 20th Annual Counselling Conference at - 15 years since I started my Master’s in Counselling Psychology there.

What a full circle moment to have being able to go back and talk about something that I feel so deeply passionate and connected too!

It was lovely seeing the passion for the profession, new and old come together, flying the flag for the Person Centred way of working, will always be a joy to watch and be a part of 🤍

✨ Happy New Year Troops! ✨

It’s been a minute.. Christmas is always jam packed and even though I wanted to be able to juggle all that comes with work and life, I quickly realised I just couldn’t balance it all with the extra pressures of Christmas! So, a ball had to be dropped and that was my presence on social media.

However, giving myself permission to drop it knowing it is ok to pick it back up again when routine returns, relived that pressure and guilt! Something I think we all need to remind ourselves of from time to time 🤍

But I am back and ready to go again. I am looking forward to sharing more with you all.

The story behind the name 🤍

Not just a clever play on words — The Therapy Booth has meaning.

The name actually came way before starting my private practice, when it was still just a dream.

“Booth” is in fact my maiden name (and still my nickname for those close to me). It’s a name I’ve always felt deeply connected to — even when getting married, it was hard to let go of because Booth felt more like me than Sami ever has; one reason for this was having 7 other Samantha’s in my year at school! And as most of them were also close friends growing up, surnames became necessary!

So as I got older, “Booth” became not just a name but part of my identity, my personality, and my story, and that has never changed. So, when it came to naming my practice, it only felt right that it should feature in some way. A little nod to who I am, and where I’ve come from.

Making the most of those blue skies this morning! Getting those steps in, rewarded with a luxury hot chocolate and a sausage oatcake.

** However, little reality check here.. getting out for a long walk this morning wasn’t without its moan and groans, tears and sulks but we ALL felt better for it! The walk back home was with smiles, laughter and contentment this really was when I knew it was worth it.

Sometimes we do have to push through it to feel the benefits 🤍

It would have been easy to allow me to continue to shy away from it but this is a perfect example of how important it is to build each other up, working together to inspire and providing opportunity (in whatever way, shape or form it comes)
