Valentine Voice Care

Valentine Voice Care A multidisciplinary centre dedicated to the care & support of professional voice users.

Kate Valentine specialises in vocal massage, laryngeal manual therapy, vocal health, and injury prevention. A passionate ambassador for vocal health, it is her mission to help remove the mystery and stigma surrounding vocal wellbeing and injury, and to provide a safe space for clients to help them with their journey – whichever part of that journey they are on. Whilst enjoying a successful career

as a principal artist on the international operatic stage she sustained a vocal injury: a career-defining moment which sparked a fascination with vocal health, rehabilitation, and the long-term benefits of manual therapy for voice. She qualified as Sports Massage therapist before studying VoiceRelease Massage© with Luise Breyer-Aiton in Switzerland, and Vocal Massage, Manuel Therapy and Laryngeal Manipulation with Stephen King at the renowned Voice Care Centre in London. As well as running her own practice ‘Valentine Voice Care’ in Lewes, East Sussex and managing a busy client list including English National Opera, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and The Dunedin Consort, Kate also works in two multidisciplinary teams: the Voice Care Centre (London) and Clyde Consulting Rooms (Glasgow)

Ever feel like your larynx is throwing a tantrum right before a big money note? Or stuck somewhere up between your ears after a long rehearsal?

Whether or not you attended the recent Guided Self-Massage for the Voice, join us for Just Larynx, a hands-on, practical workshop designed to get you up close and personal with your voicebox. We’re stripping away the mystery and getting straight to the anatomy, how it actually functions when you sing, and the triggers that can cause that frustrating straitjacket feeling.

Best of all? You’ll walk away with some seriously cool self-massage moves to instantly release tightness, improve your vocal ease, and restore your natural vocal freedom.

Perfect for: singers, speakers, and anyone who wants a happier, freer voice.

What you’ll learn: larynx anatomy 101, the "why" behind vocal tension, and daily self-release techniques you can safely use on yourself.

⏱️ Duration: 45 minutes of fast, actionable learning.
💰 Investment: just £20 per head.

Here are our top strategies for navigating hayfever season and keeping your voice healthy, hydrated, and ready to perform:

Research your medication: some over-the-counter antihistamines can dehydrate the vocal fold mucosa. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for non-drying alternatives.

Moisture is your best friend: it is vital to maintain optimal hydration throughout the day. To soothe irritated cords directly, steam (not too hot) or nebulise with 0.9% sterile saline.

Clear the nasal passages: use a saline nasal spray or a NeilMed nasal rinse daily to flush out trapped pollen and irritants before they can drip down to your larynx.

Pace your voice: incorporate vocal naps (periods of total silence) into your day to rest inflamed tissues. Never skip your vocal hygiene: always warm up and cool down thoroughly.

Shift stubborn mucus: if you feel gunky, blow bubbles through a thick straw in water. This safe, gentle resistance massages the folds and clears mucus without the need for damaging throat clearing.

Environmental tweaks: change your outdoor clothes as soon as you come inside to stop pollen from spreading around your home. You might also want to try local honey, which some find helps naturally desensitise the body to local pollen.
