Ketamine use – important health warning❗
We are aware that some people may be using ketamine recreationally. It’s important to understand that even a single use can potentially cause harm to your bladder and kidneys.
Regular or repeated use is particularly linked to a condition known as Ketamine Urinary Tract Syndrome (KUTS), but symptoms can begin much sooner than many people realise.

✅Please seek medical advice from your GP promptly if you experience:
• Lower abdominal (tummy) pain
• Pain or burning when passing urine
• Difficulty passing urine
• Needing to pass urine more frequently or urgently
• Blood in your urine
✅Early assessment can help prevent long-term damage.

If you are concerned or have symptoms, contact your GP practice for advice.

Richmondshire Primary Care Network Social Prescribing Team
👫As a team, we support patients in accessing a range of lifestyle services and
groups, including those for smoking cessation, weight management, diabetes
prevention, and increasing physical activity through exercise.

🌿 Social Prescribing Success Story 🌿
Our Social Prescriber Georgia Spence recently supported Patient H, who was struggling with low mood and anxiety after a new type 2 diabetes diagnosis.
Together they explored healthy lifestyle changes, confidence‑building, and ways to prioritise her own wellbeing. Patient H learned more about her HbA1c, joined a local Mind group, reconnected with hobbies she loves, and began using mindfulness to support her mental health.
Amazing outcomes:
💚 HbA1c reduced to below 48 mmol/mol
💚 Improved mood and confidence
💚 Better understanding of healthy eating
💚 Enjoyed a family holiday after overcoming travel anxiety
Patient H shared:
“I feel much more in control of my type 2 diabetes diagnosis.”
