🌟Tattoos and Substance Use 🌟
The safest way to use substances is to not use them at all, but if you do decide to use substances around a tattoo session we have some advice for how to reduce some of the risks.
Using substances effects your body in lots of different ways, including effects to adrenaline, norepinephrine and blood pressure – being tattoo’d also effects these things, increasing health risks if experienced at the same time. At a minimum we advise not using substances or alcohol for 48 hours before and after having any tattoo.
👉🏼 Try not to mix substances, especially with alcohol.
👉🏼 Start with a small amount and give it time to take effect before deciding to take more.
👉🏼 Eat and rest between use (and after having your tattoo!).
👉🏼 Use your own equipment and don’t share.
👉🏼 Be honest with your artist, your safety is the most important aspect and this builds trust. You’re not wasting your time or money if the tattoo is going to be cancelled anyway and you’ll reduce your risks of infections later down the line.
