Therapy can come with a lot of jargon, swipe through for a plain English guide to the different kinds of therapist we have offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy at Hope Meadows 🐴

There’s no one approach that suits everyone, so we’re always happy to talk through your situation and what might actually be helpful for you.

And a reminder: anyone offering therapy should have completed substantial training in counselling, psychotherapy, or psychological therapy and they should be registered, insured, and in clinical supervision. We’re always happy to answer questions about any of this 💕

We only take 4-8 students onto each diploma cohort.

The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Riding Instruction for Mental Health is for people who want to do this work properly, with the theory, the practical skills, and the ethical grounding to back it up.

It's a 12-month course built on three foundations: equine welfare, skill and learning, and therapeutic benefit. At Hope Meadows, we think all three matter equally, because you can't do good work with clients if the horses aren't genuinely okay too.

It's open to riding instructors and therapists; the mix of both in a cohort tends to create the most interesting conversations and properly support growth.

Accredited by Crossfields Institute. Registered by Ofqual. Recognised by AAHEP.

The next cohort begins October 2026 in Lincoln.

Follow the link for the full spec, a recorded info session, and to contact us for an application form, or feel free to message us with any questions.

Our Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Riding Instruction for Mental Health trains individuals to deliver therapeutic riding to support those with mental health challenges.

Now taken - next course is in September ☺️

✨ Last minute space ✨

The first session of our Introduction to Equine Assisted Therapy course is next week and due to a change in circumstances we have a space available.

Dr Emily Walters is running this course for counsellors, therapists and psychologists who want hands-on experience of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, without leaving the theory at the gate. It’s suitable for those looking for unique CPD as well as people interested in this way of working.

Whether you’re in training as a therapist or well into your practice, this course offers a genuine introduction to Hope Meadows’ way of working, where equine assisted psychotherapy is understood as a relational, embodied process, not a set of techniques.

Two sessions: 5th and 19th June, 10am–1pm.

This is the final chance to join our small group of up to 4.
