International Day of Care and Support 💜

Today is a chance to celebrate our incredible Care Assistants and colleagues who make a difference to people’s lives every single day.

Over the past few months, we’ve also been proud to work with Diversity+, helping us open up important conversations around equality, diversity and inclusion, and opportunities for our teams to share experiences and learn from one another.

We believe that great care is built on Three C's: compassion, competence and culture, and those values matter just as much in how we support each other.

To all of our Care Assistants and colleagues, thank you for the compassion, skill and care you bring to your work every day. 💜

Wear it Pink! 🎀

On Friday, our West of Scotland team wore it pink in support of Breast Cancer Now.

Our office team (pictured left) got involved, alongside our Care Assistants Ann and Chelsey (pictured right). Well done to everyone for getting involved and helping to raise awareness for such an important cause! 💗

Feeling creative? ✂️🎨

The Care Workers’ Charity has teamed up with Sona for "Better Things to Do with Paper", a creative competition celebrating people who work in adult social care.

We’d love to see some of our team get involved! Simply create something from paper, whether it’s origami, a collage, paper sculpture, a pop-up card or something completely different, then take a photo and submit your entry.

And there are some great prizes up for grabs!

A very special birthday! 🎂✨

On Sunday, we celebrated Janette, one of our Edinburgh South service users, as she turned 80!

She got some lovely cards and goodies and enjoyed a visit from the team. We hope you had a wonderful day, Janette! 💐

🌍🧠 World Stroke Day 🌍🧠

The 29th of October is World Stroke Day. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of stroke and the importance of recognising the signs.

One of the simplest things we can all learn is FAST:
🧑 Face - Has their face fallen on one side?
💪 Arms - Can they raise both arms and keep them there?
🗣️ Speech - Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
⏰ Time - If you notice any of these signs, it’s time to call 999.

We are supporting World Stroke Day and helping to raise awareness of the importance of recognising the signs of a stroke, understanding prevention and knowing where to turn for support.

Our Edinburgh office will have a range of Stroke Association information and resources available for colleagues to learn more. A big thank you to our Care Assistant, Olaoluwa, who volunteers with the Stroke Association, for organising this and helping us spread such an important message. 💜

⚠️ Weather Alert – This Weekend

With strong winds expected across Scotland this weekend, an amber weather warning is in place across many areas from Saturday evening into Sunday.

The safety of our colleagues and the people we support is incredibly important to us. Our teams will be keeping a close eye on conditions throughout the weekend.

We’d encourage everyone to stay up to date with the latest weather and travel advice, take extra care when heading out and avoid unnecessary risks.

Our Inverclyde service was delighted to support the The Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust's Charity Gala Concert at the Beacon Arts Centre earlier this month.

Our Care Assistant, Donna, attended with our service user Gillian, and we’re so pleased to hear they had a great night at the dinner and concert!
