What if you donât need another job⌠you need another option?
I think there are so many talented people sitting in careers right now thinking;
âSurely there has to be more than this?â
You might have a good job.
A decent salary.
Years of experience.
You might even be successful at what you do.
But perhaps what you want from your career has changed.
You want more income, but you donât necessarily want another promotion.
You want more freedom, but you canât just give up your salary.
You want more flexibility around your family and your life.
You want to do something that feels meaningful.
And maybe, somewhere in the back of your mind, you've started wondering what it would feel like to build something of your own.
Hereâs what I think we often forget;
You don't have to quit your full-time job to start creating a different future.
You can build alongside it.
And you might already have many of the skills you need to start.
If you've spent years working in leadership, management, HR, sales, recruitment, education, healthcare, business or another people-focused career, think about what you actually do every day.
You communicate.
You listen.
You solve problems.
You motivate people.
You navigate difficult conversations.
You help people through change.
You build confidence.
You help people see situations differently.
Those skills don't only have value inside your current job.
And I think that's where the conversation around career change needs to change.
Instead of immediately asking;
âWhat other job could I do?â
Try asking;
âWhat could I build with the skills I already have?â
For some people, that might be consulting.
Training.
Mentoring.
Freelancing.
Starting a side business.
And for some, it could be professional coaching.
Interestingly, many people who eventually decide to become a life coach don't begin by searching for life coach training.
They begin by wanting something else.
More purpose.
More money.
More flexibility.
More independence.
A business they can build around their existing career.
And eventually they discover that the experience they've accumulated throughout their career could become the foundation of an entirely different professional path.
That doesn't mean quitting your job tomorrow.
You could train alongside your career.
Start coaching around your existing commitments.
Build experience.
Work with your first clients.
Create an additional income stream.
And see what it becomes.
Maybe it stays alongside your career.
Maybe it becomes a successful side business.
Maybe one day it gives you the opportunity to reduce your hours.
And perhaps, eventually, it could grow into the career or business you choose to focus on full-time.
The goal isn't necessarily to escape your career.
It's to create enough options that staying in it becomes a choice.
Because the career you built at 25 might have been exactly right for that version of you.
But it doesn't automatically have to define the life you want at 40.
So I'd love to know...
If you could have more of ONE thing in your working life right now, what would it be?
A) More income
B) More freedom
C) More flexibility
D) More purpose
E) More choice
