Recovering from septoplasty takes time, and following your surgeon’s aftercare advice is an important part of the healing process.

After surgery, splints or soft packing may be placed inside the nose to support the tissues, maintain their position and help control bleeding. You may also be advised to use nasal sprays to help manage inflammation and nasal obstruction.

Keeping your head elevated while sleeping can help reduce swelling. It’s also important to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting during the early stages of recovery.

During the first week, focus on rest and gradually easing back into your usual routine. From weeks 2–6, activity can generally be increased progressively, with a return to normal exercise often possible around weeks 6–7, depending on your individual recovery and your surgeon’s guidance.

It’s normal to experience some discomfort, pressure or congestion during the early recovery period. While you may feel significantly better within a few weeks, full internal healing can take several months, with the nasal structures continuing to settle over time.

At Kensington Medical, we provide detailed postoperative instructions and follow-up appointments to support you throughout your recovery.

If a deviated septum is making it difficult to breathe through your nose, septoplasty could help.

Septoplasty is a surgical procedure that straightens a deviated or bent septum, helping to improve nasal airflow and reduce breathing difficulties. For some patients, this can also have a positive impact on sleep and overall quality of life.

At Kensington Medical, your treatment begins with a consultation with one of our specialist nose surgeons. They will assess your individual needs and talk you through preparation, the procedure and recovery.

Septoplasty can also be combined with rhinoplasty, known as septorhinoplasty, when both breathing and the appearance of the nose need to be addressed.

When is the right time for nose tip rhinoplasty? 👃

Rhinoplasty is generally postponed until the nose has reached structural maturity. For younger patients, this is typically around 18 years of age, although suitability is assessed on an individual basis.

Waiting until the nasal structures have developed allows your surgeon to properly assess the nose and plan surgery with both appearance and function in mind.

If you're considering nose tip rhinoplasty, a consultation with an experienced specialist plastic surgeon is the best way to understand whether the procedure is appropriate for you.

14/08/2026

Not every patient looking to change the appearance of their nose needs a full rhinoplasty.

Nose tip rhinoplasty focuses specifically on the tip of the nose, addressing concerns such as its shape, projection, definition or symmetry.

Full rhinoplasty involves reshaping multiple areas of the nose and may address the bridge, tip, nostrils and overall nasal structure.

The right approach depends on your individual anatomy, concerns and desired outcome. During a consultation, your surgeon can assess your nose and discuss which procedure may be most appropriate.

At Kensington Medical, our specialist plastic surgeons provide personalised advice and surgical care for patients considering rhinoplasty in London.

More women and men are considering facial rejuvenation surgery in their 40s and 50s, as advances in surgical techniques allow procedures to be tailored to the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

For some patients, these procedures can provide a more structural approach to early signs of ageing, particularly when they are looking for a refreshed result without an overfilled appearance.

Other techniques, including the Deep Plane Facelift and Vertical Restore Facelift, may be considered depending on the patient's anatomy, concerns and aesthetic goals.

The right procedure isn't determined by age alone. Your surgeon will assess your facial structure, skin and degree of ageing before recommending the most appropriate approach.
