Back pain in pregnancy 😣

🙇‍♀️ It is very common to get backache or back pain during pregnancy, especially in the early stages.

❓During pregnancy, the ligaments in your body naturally become softer and stretch to prepare you for labour. This can put a strain on the joints of your lower back and pelvis, which can cause back pain.

💊You can take paracetamol to ease back pain while you are pregnant, unless your GP or midwife says not to. Always avoid Ibuprofen! If you aren’t sure, always ask your midwife.

👩🏼‍⚕️ Your midwife can also refer you for physiotherapy if your pain becomes worse

🧘 You may find some light exercise like yoga can help ease the pain too.

🩹 You could also try a pregnancy support belt to help to keep your back straight and take pressure off your pelvis.

What is 💫 Hypnobirthing? 💫

Despite the name, hypnobirthing doesn't mean you have someone dangling a pocket watch in front of your face to hypnotise you.

Hypnobirthing is actually a birth education programme that teaches you various tools, like self-hypnosis, controlled breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises, that can help change your birth experience from negative and fearful to calm and peaceful.

Here at Hypnatal Birth Co. we teach method.

Hypnobirthing doesn’t have to mean you have a pool birth with no pain relief (although that’s pretty amazing too)

We are passionate about education and feel that this is the 🔑 to a positive birth experience!
