While decluttering during COVID I came across some wonderful memories, including a 1978 interview I conducted with the psychiatrist R.D. Laing when I was a student. I would love to interview him now, as there are several areas where I have developed overlapping interests - on everything from therapeutic communities to psychedelic research. I've published the full text of the interview to my blog, as well as some of my present day thoughts in the light of my own work in the field.

While decluttering during COVID I came across some wonderful memories which I want to share here. I interviewed the psychiatrist R.D. Laing in 1978 as a medical student at the Royal Free Hospital with my colleague Chris Sinclair. We co-edited with others a medical student magazine, “Free Comment.....

I am very excited to be part of the JAAQ (Just Ask a Question) website which was launched yesterday on the BBC One Show. Back in May I was filmed answering questions about Body Dysmorphic Disorder. So you can now ask me a question by speech or text on the website and the clever algorithms will find the best answer for you. Read more on my blog, or visit the JAAQ website directly - https://www.jaaq.co.uk/

Our new allotment at the Bethlem Royal is officially open - with the help of Dr Sue Stuart-Smith. After cutting the ribbon she spoke to staff, residents and guests about the growing importance of horticulture for mental health. We’ll be growing vegetables high in fibre and polyphenols, to improve gut microbiota and so mental and physical health. You can read more about our plans, and about the science linking food and health, on my blog.

This week we opened our new allotment at the Anxiety Disorders Residential Unit, which will grow vegetables for a healthy gut microbiota. The project is named “From Plot to Perfect Poo” and supports residents to grow their own vegetables in the open green space at the Bethlem Royal. The allotmen...

Residents at the Anxiety Disorders Residential Unit (ADRU) at the Bethlem have been getting involved with our allotment project, where they're supported to grow and cook food that will help a healthy gut microbiota. The project also promotes a culture of belonging through shared tasks such as gardening, cooking and hospitality as well as opportunities to do exposure tasks. So I'm really excited that we've been shortlisted for the Royal College Psychiatric Team of the Year 2021: Outstanding commitment to Sustainability/Green Care.

I am excited that the Anxiety Disorders Residential Unit (ADRU) at the Bethlem has been short-listed for the Royal College Psychiatric Team of the Year 2021: Outstanding commitment to Sustainability/Green Care. This has been a really tough year for the unit, and this is just the fillip that our comm...

Simone Giona and I conducted a research study at Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King's College London to reveal how women felt when the depth of pe*******on during in*******se was reduced. Does size matter?

We researched this as men may worry or be ashamed about the length or girth of their p***s. It was of interest to know whether reducing the length of the p***s matters to female sexual partners as much as it does to men.

Does size matter? This is an age old question that has previously been answered by surveys. It has not been tested experimentally until now. Researchers at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neurosciences of King’s College London recruited 12 sexually active couples to participate in a st...
