What an incredible week it has been across Abbey Healthcare as we wrapped up Care Home Open Week with huge success across all of our homes! 💙

Throughout the week, we were delighted to open our doors and welcome residents, families, friends, local communities, and partners to come together and celebrate everything that makes our homes so special.

From creating meaningful connections and strengthening community relationships to sharing laughter, memories, and unforgettable experiences, the week truly showcased the heart of Abbey Healthcare — bringing people together.

This year’s celebrations were filled with so many fun activities across our homes, with many embracing exciting football-themed events that brought out plenty of team spirit, friendly competition, and smiles all around ⚽🎉

A huge thank you to every resident, family member, staff team, volunteer, and community partner who joined us and helped make the week such a fantastic success.

We are incredibly proud of our team at Aarandale Manor Luxury Care Home for going the extra mile, not just in care but for an important cause in the wider community. 💙

At Abbey Healthcare, our homes and dedicated staff are going above and beyond this Care Home Open Week and this year, we’re proudly embracing a very exciting theme… the World Cup! 🌍⚽

Across all our homes, residents and teams have been fully immersed in the excitement, with each home creating incredible experiences inspired by football, community spirit, and celebration.

It has been a good start packed with unforgettable moments. Residents were amazed by a talented magician bringing laughter and wonder with incredible magic tricks 🎩✨, while others enjoyed an extraordinary visit from a range of exotic creatures. The interactive animal experience allowed residents to get up close with fascinating animals including bearded dragons, turtles, iguanas, parrots, and guinea pigs 🦎🐢 creating moments of joy, curiosity, and connection.

The football celebrations have truly taken centre stage this year. Homes have been organising fantastic football-themed arts and crafts activities where residents designed their own football shirts and enjoyed singing along to classic football anthems ⚽🎶

With excitement building around England national football team playing on Wednesday, residents have also been enjoying a little extra pampering, getting their nails done 💅 and match-day ready to cheer on their team.

Our homes have been opening their doors to the wider community as well throughout the week, welcoming local visitors in for coffee and cake ☕🍰 and giving families, friends, and neighbours the opportunity to experience the warm and vibrant atmosphere within our homes.

And to make things even more exciting, we’ve fully embraced the tournament spirit by placing all competing World Cup teams into a draw. Each resident has selected a country to support for the tournament, now it’s all down to luck to see who will be crowned the winning supporter! 🤞🏻🏆

From football celebrations and creative activities to community gatherings, animal encounters, entertainment, and shared excitement around the World Cup, our homes are proving once again that care is about creating joy, connection, and unforgettable experiences every single day.

A special afternoon at Abbeydale Court as resident Irene Tomlinson performed a song she wrote with the support of our music therapist.

The performance was shared during our choir session, led by Kirsty, and was enjoyed by residents and staff alike.

Alongside the performance, residents also put together a photo collage showcasing some of the activities and events they've taken part in over the past few weeks. A great way to look back on shared experiences and achievements within our home.

This prestigious achievement recognises Ben's outstanding culinary talent, creativity, and dedication to delivering exceptional dining experiences for the residents of Elmcroft Care Home.
Ben's passion for food is evident in every dish he creates. From freshly baked homemade breads and rich, flavourful beef broths to beautifully prepared fresh fish dishes, delicate macarons, and even interactive sushi demonstrations, his culinary expertise consistently delights residents and colleagues alike.

His innovative approach to care home dining has transformed mealtimes into memorable experiences, bringing both enjoyment and nourishment to those in his care.
