I’ve read a poem, Mushroom and it’s really got me thinking.

Sometimes the strongest things grow in the darkest places. This poem is a reminder that healing doesn’t always happen in the light. Sometimes it begins quietly, beneath the surface, in the places we’d rather not look. Like mushrooms rising from what was meant to be a grave, resilience often starts in the shadows, turning decay into something new.

It inspired me so much that I’ve added some lil crystal mushrooms to the cabin, a small reminder that growth can be gentle, hidden, and still incredibly powerful.

If you’re moving through a heavy season, or rebuilding from what felt like an ending, I hope this speaks to you. Growth doesn’t need perfect conditions. It just needs time, patience, and the courage to keep reaching upward.

Even in the deepest dark, life finds a way.

💔 A really difficult and heartbreaking announcement today.

Many of us working within mental health and supporting children, young people and families will know of the incredible work that Papyrus Prevention of Young Su***de has carried out over the past almost 30 years.

The news that Papyrus and HOPELINE247 are no longer operating is devastating. HOPELINE247 has been such an important source of support for young people experiencing thoughts of su***de, as well as parents, carers and professionals looking for guidance.

As a counsellor who works with children, young people and adults, I know how important it is that people know where they can turn when they need support.

If you or a young person you know needs support, please remember that there are still services available:

Please share this post. You never know who in your circle may need to know where they can turn tonight.

Thinking of all the staff, volunteers and service users at this devastating news.

Great morning down the lake.

Last night I was feeling rather unprepared for this mornings big swim.
Hardly any swimming in the pool this summer, no lake swim for over 7 weeks for one reason or another. New wetsuit I got for my birthday that I didn’t even knew if it fitted till I was down the lake and a new lake I’ve never swam in before.

But I turned up, got into the wetsuit - sleeveless is my new way forward for sure! No PB this time but really enjoyed myself and feel so much better for it.
New medal which links into Junes medal is so satisfying too! 😂

Does anyone else get excited about getting a new diary?

For years now, around this time of year, I’ve always bought my diary for the following year… and every single time, I get that same little buzz of excitement.

And I have to say, I absolutely love a paper diary! There is just something about putting pen to paper for me.

I’ve tried electronic diaries, but I just can’t do it! 😂 There’s something so satisfying about writing things down, turning the pages and seeing everything laid out in front of me. Maybe it’s a little old-fashioned, but I love it!

But it’s never just a diary to me.

Those empty pages represent everything that’s still to come.

As I look through the pages, I start thinking about the things I already have planned, the things I’m hoping to achieve and, of course, all the things I haven’t even thought of yet.

There’ll be counselling sessions, new clients, CPD courses, ideas for Ground 2 Grow Therapy, exciting plans for the business and hopefully plenty of opportunities to keep learning and growing.

And then there are the personal things to look forward to, family time, time with friends, days out, holidays, birthdays, celebrations, little adventures… and maybe even another aquathlon or open-water swimming event to challenge myself with!

But alongside all of those plans are the little things that matter just as much, making memories, spending time with the people I love and giving myself things to look forward to.

And I think there’s something quite comforting about having all of this written down too. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming when everything is swirling around in our heads. Putting things onto paper can give our thoughts somewhere to go, help us feel a little more organised and create space to notice the things we have to look forward to.

Of course, a diary isn’t a magic fix for life’s challenges, but for me, those little moments of planning, reflecting and looking forward can be a lovely way of supporting my own wellbeing.

After the last few years of building my practice, continuing to learn and stepping outside my comfort zone, I think I appreciate those blank pages even more.

They remind me that I don’t know exactly what the next year will bring… and that’s actually quite exciting.

Here’s to filling another diary with memories, achievements, challenges, growth and lots of things to look forward to.

Now… tell me I’m not the only one who gets excited about a brand-new paper diary!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT.

At Ground 2 Grow Therapy, I believe counselling shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all approach.

I’m a Level 5 qualified Integrative Counsellor and BACP Accredited Counsellor, and I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches and adapting sessions to suit you as an individual, your needs, your experiences and what feels right for you.

Person-centred therapy – creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and feel truly heard.

CBT & psychoeducation – helping you understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours and develop tools to support you outside of sessions.

Solution-focused therapy – exploring your strengths, what is already working and the changes you would like to make.

Creative therapy – using creativity to explore thoughts and feelings that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.

Walk & Talk therapy – taking therapy outside the traditional counselling room and using movement and nature to create a different therapeutic environment.

Trauma-informed support – recognising how experiences can shape the way we think, feel and respond, while working at a pace that feels safe for you.

I work with children, young people and adults, supporting people through anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationships, confidence, life changes and many other challenges.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need before you start.
That’s something we can work out together.

Ground 2 Grow Therapy, supporting you to grow through what you’re going through.
