Today is International Irish Traveller Day โ๏ธโ
We are proud of our established and growing relationship with the Irish Traveller community in Brent, and of the trust that young people and families place in our service.
Through our Irish Project, we provide inclusive, culturally informed therapeutic support for young people from all Irish communities, including those born in any part of Ireland, people of Irish descent, Irish people of colour, and Irish Travellers.
Many of the young Irish people we support are living with the effects of transgenerational trauma. As descendants of survivors of institutional abuse and/or the Northern Ireland conflict, they are at greater risk of experiencing mental health difficulties, including suicidal thoughts.
International Irish Traveller Day is an opportunity to recognise the culture, identity and contributions of Irish Travellers, while also acknowledging the barriers that continue to affect access to mental health support.
We remain committed to providing therapy that is inclusive, culturally responsive, and shaped by the experiences of the communities we serve. ๐
