Pilates was never designed to be a one-size-fits-all approach.

Joseph Pilates built this method on the principle that movement should serve the body in front of it and not the other way around. With modifications, props and different equipment that assist or challenge the body in different ways.

Our instructors are trained to understand the body and not just the exercises — the anatomy, conditions, injuries and the adjustments that make the exercises work for every single person in the class.

Bad knee? We've got a modification. Post-op shoulder? We've got you. Scoliosis, hypermobility, chronic pain, diastasis recti? We can help.

We work with the method as it was intended.

Pilates is having a moment, you've probably noticed.

New studios opening everywhere, debates about which style is 'best', classes being offered in places that didn't exist six months ago, and it's brilliant that more people are finding their way to the reformer and learning about the method.

But in the middle of all that noise, we wanted to remind you what we've always stood for and what we'll never budge on:

1) Our teachers are all properly qualified. They've completed accredited courses, completed their practice hours and understand how to work with individual bodies. Bodies with injuries, post-surgical bodies, bodies that haven't exercised in years, bodies managing chronic pain. They didn't just learn the movements; they learned how to teach them safely to everyone.

2) Our classes stay small, just five people. That way, we know your health history, we know your unique aches and pains, your dog's name and where you went on your last trip. We can also then modify the classes for the people booked in; we can offer alternatives to the clients with shoulder pain or those who can't do that one movement. That's not possible in a room of twenty.

3) We're building a community, not just taking bookings. The community that has grown inside this studio is one of our favourite things about it. People who care for each other, who notice when someone hasn't been in for a while, who've become friends over a shared love of Pilates and the occasional groan on the long box. We check in on our clients. We remember what you're working through or what goals you have.

So with all the noise in the industry, remember, we are going to continue to do what we do best and create a community that is welcoming for all.

Exercise is the closest thing to a magic pill we have...

We go for our regular GP check-ups, we brush our teeth every day to prevent cavities, and we wear suncream for our skin. We do all of these things preventatively.

Movement is the same, and yet it's the one preventative habit most of us put off until the body starts complaining.

Regular exercise is seen as something we will get to later, or we do it purely to look a certain way, but what we are talking about is much more than that. Like being able to carry your own shopping at 75, or getting up off the floor without help. Walking to the end of the road or playing with your children or grandchildren.

Exercise now is protecting your independence later.

And the research behind it shows that these magical benefits are not just for the body, but for the mind too. According to the Alzheimer's Society UK, "People who exercise regularly are up to 20% less likely to develop dementia than those who don't "

The best time to start was yesterday. The second best time is now.

We got this review recently, and it's something we think everyone should read.

After a fall, most people would have scaled back, but this client did the opposite; she walked through our door for the first time at 84 and experienced the benefits of Pilates first-hand.

She's been coming to Claudia twice a week ever since. Building strength, feeling steadier, getting more out of her body than she did before the fall.

We never tire of stories like this one. Because this is exactly who Pilates is for, not just the young, the fit or the already strong. It's for anyone who wants to feel better in their body than they did yesterday.

If someone in your life has been putting it off, whether that's because of age, an injury, or just not knowing where to start, send this to them.

Our door is always open.

3 in 100 people have scoliosis, but most don't know what to do about it.

If you've been diagnosed with scoliosis — or suspect you might have it — this one's for you.

Swipe through to understand what scoliosis actually is, what it means for your body, why Pilates works so well for managing it, and what the research says about tailored exercise.

What makes us a little different — our founder, Claudia, has completed the Scoliosis and Spinal Conditions Master Course and Naoka, one of our other instructors, also holds a certificate in Pilates for Scoliosis. Between them, they've worked with clients at every stage — from mild curves to more complex spinal conditions that needed a completely individual approach.

If you've been looking for someone who understands your body, that's exactly what we're here for.

Strength isn't something you can bank, but it is something you can build.

After 35, muscle mass naturally starts to decline. The people who stay strong, mobile and capable into their 50s, 60s and beyond aren't lucky, they're consistent.

Reformer Pilates is one of the most effective ways to build functional strength.

So start now, the future you is counting on it.

Most of us spend 8+ hours a day in positions our bodies were never designed for.

Sitting can do more damage to our bodies than we realise. Luckily, many Pilates movements are specifically designed to correct these postural imbalances before they become chronic issues.

It's not about aesthetics. It's about loading joints correctly so they stop hurting.

So if you are someone who sits a lot, it's time to set up a Pilates class:

Modern life involves a lot of sitting at desks, in cars, on the couch. And while it might feel harmless, long periods of sitting can lead to tight hips, stiff spines, weak glutes, and poor posture.

Over time, this can leave your body feeling sluggish, tense, and out of balance.

Pilates is a powerful way to counteract the effects of too much sitting.

Here’s how it helps:

Improves posture - Pilates strengthens the deep core and postural muscles that help support your spine and keep you upright.

Releases tight hips - Many Pilates exercises gently open the hips and lengthen muscles that become shortened from prolonged sitting.

Reactivates underused muscles - Sitting tends to switch off the glutes and deep core. Pilates helps wake these muscles up again.

Encourages movement and circulation - Intentional movement and breathing help increase blood flow, reduce stiffness, and restore energy.

Even a short Pilates session can help reset your posture and bring your body back into balance after a long day at a desk.

Try it after your next workday - your body will thank you.
