We know, we know. We sound pretty annoying. 🙄

“Have you done your exercises?”
“Have you actually done your exercises?”
“No... the ones we emailed you.”

But we promise we’re not trying to ruin your day. 😂 Those exercises are what help get you back to doing the things you love.

Now go and do your rehab. We’ll know if you haven’t. 🤣

Turns out podiatry sounds a lot more suspicious when you explain it like this... 👀

In reality, we’re helping people get out of pain, move better and get back to doing the things they love.

From heel pain and sports injuries to ingrown toenails and everything in between, we promise it’s all perfectly legitimate! 😂

There is quite a buzz around the term Super Shoes. Everyone seems to be talking about….

Carbon plates. PEBA foam. Record-breaking marathon times.

But what are they and what does it actually mean for everyday runners?

We asked our expert podiatrist and Clinical Director, John Durkin.

“As with most things in running, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

The technology behind super shoes is genuinely impressive, particularly the newer foam materials that can improve running economy and help some runners feel fresher over longer distances.

But that doesn’t automatically mean they’re the right choice for everyone.

The runners who tend to see the biggest benefits are often those running at faster paces with a higher cadence.

For others, the gains may be much smaller.

What’s far more important is understanding your biomechanics, training load and whether the shoe is right for your body and goals.

A super shoe can’t compensate for an underlying injury or poor running habits.

The best shoe is still the one that works for you.”

Thinking about making the switch to super shoes?

A running assessment can help you understand whether they’re likely to benefit your running and reduce your risk of injury.

A really exciting week for the Active Life Podiatry team 👟

This week you’ll find us at the store in Canary Wharf as part of the launch of the brand new GEL-KAYANO™ 33.

We’ll be spending time with runners, chatting through injuries, looking at running technique on the treadmill and helping people find the right shoe for their training, whether they’re preparing for a race or simply trying to enjoy their running a little more.

It’s always great to get out of the clinic and connect with the running community, so we’re looking forward to meeting plenty of runners and being part of such an exciting launch.

We’ll be sharing some behind-the-scenes moments throughout the week, so keep an eye on our stories 👀

If you’re in Canary Wharf, come and say hello!

CPD day for the team.

Using real feet (thanks John 😂) to map tendon lines, pressure points and movement patterns, building a clearer picture of what’s actually happening beneath the surface.

Sessions like this help us refine how we assess, explain and treat. It’s not just about what hurts, it’s about understanding why it’s happening in the first place.

That’s what leads to more accurate diagnoses and better long-term outcomes for our patients.

If you’re dealing with ongoing foot pain or something that just isn’t improving, it might be time to look a bit deeper.

Book in for a biomechanics assessment with the team.

On Saturday, one of our young gymnast patients came back in to see Penny for her second session, working on foot mobility that had been affecting her point.

Last time, Penny gave her a small set of exercises to do at home, focused on improving strength and movement through key parts of the foot.

Just two weeks later, you can already see the difference.

For gymnasts and dancers, point plays a big part in performance and scoring, and when something’s not quite moving as it should, it shows.

Swipe to see where she started and how things have improved in a short space of time.

We’ll keep building on this over the next few weeks to help her get stronger, more controlled and more confident in her point.

Stay tuned for updates!
