🥛 3 Lies About Milk — and 3 Brands You Can Actually Trust

Lie #1 — “Semi-skimmed is healthier”
Removing fat doesn’t make milk healthier. Fat is essential because it helps your body absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are crucial for calcium absorption, bone health, and overall nutrition. Without the fat, you’re missing the nutrients that make milk valuable.

Lie #2 — “Long-life milk is just as nutritious”
Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) milk is heated to extreme temperatures to last months on the shelf. This kills beneficial enzymes, alters proteins, and reduces heat-sensitive vitamins, meaning it’s less nutritious than fresh, gently pasteurised milk.

Lie #3 — “All milk is the same”
Not all milk is equal. Milk from grass-fed cows contains more omega-3 fatty acids and better fatty acid profiles, plus it’s richer in nutrients and flavor. Conventional, grain-fed milk can’t match this natural quality.

âś… Trusted Milk Brands:

Yeo Valley Organic – grass-fed, organic, full nutrition.

Graham’s Jersey Cow Milk – naturally rich, high in omega-3s, minimally processed.

Sainsbury’s So Organic – accessible organic milk, gently pasteurised, nutrient-preserving.

Choose milk that’s real, nutrient-rich, and ethically produced. Your body (and taste buds) will thank you. 🌱

Did you know scented candles can cause itchiness and skin irritation? 🕯

Fragrance allergens like limonene, linalool, eugenol, and cinnamal can trigger allergic reactions, while VOCs such as benzene, toluene, and formaldehyde can irritate skin, eyes, and the respiratory system. Soot from paraffin wax can also worsen irritation. Even trace amounts of these allergens, especially in oxidized or older candles, can provoke reactions in sensitive individuals.

Candles to choose / safe options:

* Soy or beeswax candles
* Natural essential oils
* Free from synthetic fragrances, undisclosed “parfum,” and all the allergens and VOCs listed above

Candles / ingredients to avoid:

* Paraffin wax candles
* Synthetic fragrances or undisclosed “parfum”
* Fragrance allergens: limonene, linalool, eugenol, cinnamal
* VOCs: benzene, toluene, formaldehyde
* Old or oxidized essential oils

For maximum safety, people prone to skin irritation should avoid all fragrance allergens and VOCs entirely and stick to clean, natural options for a safer, itch-free burn.
