We work with people who have spent years trying to understand themselves 🧠

When the legitimacy of ADHD is put up for debate, it is important to remember who is actually watching.

People who may already be questioning whether their experiences are valid.

People who have only recently found an explanation that finally makes sense of their lives.

People who have spent years being told they are lazy, or careless.

🔎 ADHD is complex. The way it presents can be influenced by:
→ Environment and expectations
→ Coping strategies and masking
→ The support someone has received
→ The demands being placed on them

We absolutely should be able to question research and improve the way ADHD is assessed. What matters is doing that responsibly, without adding to the shame and stigma that so many neurodivergent people already experience.

Once you see it you can’t unsee it…

1️⃣ The intense need to ‘fit in’ the moment you walk into a professional setting

2️⃣ Laughing at things that aren’t actually funny to you because the room expected it

3️⃣ Running through the script of a phone call in the shower before it happens, and replaying the conversation for days after it’s finished

4️⃣ Avoiding the parents at the school gate because the small talk requires a performance you just don’t have the energy for today

5️⃣ The exhausting completely invisible labour of being the version of yourself that other people find easiest to be around

Masking is the process of suppressing or camouflaging neurodivergent traits to fit into neurotypical environments, it’s incredibly common in people with Autism and ADHD, particularly those who were never diagnosed.

It’s exhausting in ways that are really hard to explain to people who haven’t lived it. And it has a shelf life, which is why so many people hit a wall in their thirties or forties when the mask just falls…

At S E I K our clinicians specialise in high masking presentations, which means we are specifically trained to see the person underneath the performance

Women going through hormonal changes struggle to mask their neurodivergent symptoms.

Postpartum, perimenopause or getting older - this is the time where women often start noticing signs of their neurodiversity that was missed all those years ago.

What that actually means in real life:
✨ You cannot mask like you used to
✨ You cannot tolerate noise the same way
✨ You cannot hide the overstimulation
✨ You cannot push through exhaustion
✨ You cannot pretend you are fine anymore

The strategies that carried you for 20 years just stop working, so it looks like you suddenly changed.

You are more reactive, overwhelmed, emotional and burnt out.

We see women who were high achieving, organised, the reliable one, the mature one… and then motherhood or hormonal shifts expose how hard they were working just to appear fine.

It is not that you developed ADHD or Autism overnight, it’s that masking has a shelf life.

If this season of life has made everything feel louder and harder than it used to be, that is worth paying attention to.

If you’ve ever HATED yourself after losing it at your kids, keep reading 💛

Because nothing is wrong with you, but something has been missed, possibly for your entire life, and it’s costing you more than you know.

Here’s what’s actually happening in those moments.

You feel everything deeply. The tension in a room before anyone says a word, the noise, the chaos, the overwhelm of just being around other people.

So you’ve learned to manage it.

And then you became a mum.
And suddenly the coping strategies you’d spent a lifetime building weren’t enough anymore.

1️⃣ Your child cries and something in your chest tightens, you feel an overwhelming urge to get away from the sound. Not because you don’t love them. Because your nervous system is already at its limit and that sound tips you over the edge.

2️⃣ The chaos of the school run, the noise of the dinner table, the endless touching and asking and needing, lands on you physically. By the time the kids are in bed you are completely empty, not because you’re weak, but because you’ve been managing sensory overload all day on top of everything else.

3️⃣ You snap. And then the guilt hits like a wall. And you lie awake promising yourself tomorrow will be different, and tomorrow comes and it isn’t, and you cannot understand why you keep failing at the one thing that matters most to you.

You are a parent whose nervous system has been dysregulated, probably since childhood, who has never been given the right support or the right answers.

We are a neurodivergent-led, not-for-profit team and we built an assessment pathway that is genuinely accessible because we know that the women who need this most are often the last ones to feel like they deserve to ask for help.

The first step is completely free.

YES ✅ 👇

Our assessments follow NICE guidelines, the exact same clinical standards used by the NHS, and every assessment is carried out by fully regulated, accredited specialists.

But here is the part worth understanding before you begin.

Your report can be used to access support, workplace accommodations, and onward care. And if medication is part of your journey, we can work toward a shared care agreement with your GP, meaning they take over prescribing on an NHS prescription while we support your ongoing reviews.

Where it can get a little more complicated is that GP practices have their own individual policies around private assessments, and shared care agreements can vary depending on your area and your specific practice.

So here is what we always recommend:
🧠 Before you start, have a conversation with your
GP about their policy on private assessments and shared care

🧠 If they have specific requirements, let our team know and we will do everything we can to meet them

🧠 If shared care isn’t possible where you are, we can continue supporting your care directly so you are never left without options

We never want the pressure of finding an observer to be the reason someone doesn’t take the next step.

So here is everything you need to know ⬇️

An observer is someone who joins both of your assessment appointments because they can give our clinicians a picture of what your symptoms have looked like across your life, not just right now. This is a requirement in line with NICE guidelines, and it genuinely improves the accuracy of your assessment.

But they do not have to be a parent or a guardian:

✅ A long-term partner
✅ A close friend who has known you for a long time
✅ A sibling or other family member

They can also join remotely from a completely different location to you, so distance is never a barrier.

If you can’t think of anyone who could fill that role, please do not let that stop you from reaching out.

Talk to our onboarding team first. We will have an conversation with you about how else we can assess you and help you figure out the best next step.

The first step is completely free.

Here is what the process really looks like from start to finish:

➟ Step one: your free screening form.

Takes around five minutes. Once you have submitted it, a member of our team will give you a call to go through your answers together.

➟ Step two: the free call.

This is your chance to ask us anything. We will gently explore your symptoms with you, answer your questions honestly, and if we think a remote assessment is right for you, we will talk you through exactly what that looks like. There is no pressure to book anything on that call.

➟ Step three: your assessment.

Two appointments, both remote, from home, at a time that suits you. The first is with a psychologist, and the second is with a psychiatrist, who will go through their conclusions with you at the end. Both appointments follow NICE guidelines and are carried out by regulated specialists.

➟ Step four: your report.

Within three weeks of your assessment completing you will receive a full written report. If you receive a diagnosis, you will also get a separate confirmation letter you can share wherever you need to.

➟ Step five: ongoing support.

We do not stop at the report. Whether that means medication support, follow-up appointments, or help navigating what comes next, we stay with you. We are not-for-profit, neurodivergent-led, and we genuinely care about what happens to you after the appointment ends.

The first step costs nothing.
