Comment “FIDGET” to get a list of toys we recommend for helping kids with attention and focus in the classroom.

Some fidget toys can drive teachers crazy and are often banned from the classroom. However, there are some students who need certain types of fidget toys to help them stay focused and regulated to continue learning.

Kids who need fidget toys, may have trouble with the following:

🫨Sustained attention
🫨Sitting at their desk for long periods of time
🫨Listening to the teacher
🫨Filtering out background noise

Certain types of fidget toys can be helpful in the classroom without disrupting other classmates or the teacher.

To get a list of items we find helpful for students depending on their individual needs, comment “FIDGET” and we’ll send you the link.

April is Autism Awareness Month…
and it’s only a few days away.

For some families,
this isn’t just a “month.”

It’s everyday life.

It’s routines that have to be followed.
Meltdowns people don’t understand.
Small wins that mean everything.

It’s patience.
It’s advocacy.
It’s showing up, every single day.

Some days are beautiful.
Some days are hard.

But behind it all
are parents doing everything they can
to support a child the world doesn’t always understand.

So no…
this month isn’t just about awareness.

It’s about being more patient.
More kind.
More understanding.

Because every child deserves to be accepted,
not changed.

STEM + Sensory Play in Therapy

We really enjoyed playing with magnetic tiles and light to build, create, and learn through hands-on experience.

This type of STEM activity supports multiple areas of development:
🧠 Cognitive & Problem-Solving Skills – planning, building, and understanding how pieces connect.
🧩 Logical Thinking & Spatial Awareness – exploring shapes, balance, and structure.
✋ Fine Motor Skills – grasping, placing, and adjusting pieces with control.
💬 Communication & Language – describing actions, requesting pieces, and engaging in shared play.
🤝 Social Engagement – turn-taking, joint attention, and interaction during play.

What makes this activity even more powerful is the sensory element. The lights, colours, and visual feedback create a calming and engaging environment that helps support emotional regulation.

When a child feels regulated, calm, and engaged, they are more available to learn, explore, and connect. This is when meaningful learning truly happens 🌱

Play is never “just play”—it’s the foundation of development ✨

Today’s session focused on language, understanding and reasoning through play.

We practiced prepositions (in, on, under, behind, next to), worked on sequencing (now, next, then), and explored pronouns (he/she) using hands-on activities and play.

Through games, pictures, and conversation we supported:
• language comprehension
• expressive language
• reasoning and problem solving
• early narrative skills

Because the best learning happens through play, curiosity, and connection.
