Finally, the heatwave has broken and cooler air is rolling back in. Take a deep breath.

If the last week left you drained, irritable or wired and unable to sleep - that wasn't just in your head. Heat genuinely taxes our minds: it disrupts sleep, frays our patience, spikes anxiety, and saps motivation.

A few gentle ways to reset as things cool:

Get outside while it's pleasant - even a short walk lifts mood and resets your body clock

Protect your sleep now that nights are cooler - rest is the fastest way to recover

Keep hydrating - dehydration lingers and clouds your mood

Go easy on yourself if the heat threw you off. You were coping with real stress

Check on the people who struggle most in heat - older neighbours, anyone living alone

Cooler days are a good moment to refill the tank. Be mindful of how that makes you feel and live in the moment.
