Your vitamin D checklist 💛 SUPPLEMENTS SIMPLIFIED Ep 1/Taking vitamin D doesn’t automatically mean good vitamin D levels, so let’s uncomplicate it!
I saw this one myself too. Before my last pregnancy I tested my vitamin D and found out my levels were low, even though I was already taking 1000 IU a day (more than double the standard 400 IU).
I knew then I needed to up my dose to properly support my body (and future baby!)
Vitamin D isn’t just about bones. It’s about your immune function, your fertility and implantation, your baby’s development. It’s about lowering your risk of preterm birth, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia.
The NHS recommendation is 10µg / 400 IU daily. But this isn’t enough for most of us - it’s just the bare minimum to prevent rickets… not what we need to grow a whole new human with our bodies!
In research where pregnant women take 2,000 - 4,000 IU a day, we see healthier levels. And no safety issues at 4,000 IU either.
When you’re taking vitamin D supplements, the form, dose and how you take it can make a big difference.
I’ll be sharing supplement tips and reviewing the supplement shelves every week so let me know below what you want me to cover next👇
