It's been a long haul and this has been a particularly emotional time for everyone.

It is very much a person choice but, just like any important decision, please do the research before coming to a conclusion.

2) what are the benefits risks?
3) where can I go for further information and support?

D is for Doula.

It's World Doula Week.

Did you know research shows having a Doula has many known benefits?

Having a Doula can;

- lower instances of medical intervention

- result in shorter labour

- improved condition of babies at birth

- promote higher levels of sustained breastfeeding

- increase attachment and bonding with babies

- help have a more positive birth experience

- create better wellbeing of mums following birth

D is also for decision making. That means deciding what's right for you and establishing what works for you and your loved ones. Everyone's circumstances are not necessarily the same. As a Doula and Birth Coach the starting point is always your aspirations and how these can be achieved.

I hold hands, babies and families but most of all I hold space.

Holding space means being there physically, emotionally and mentally, in a compassionate and non judgemental way. Holding hands and hearts.

It is about offering freedom to find and live in your own truth. It means allowing room for self discovery and supporting transitions.

I tend to work in three phases; actively listening to experiences and aspirations, providing information for planning and choices and observing and supporting informed decisions.

Closer to home, I hold my compact family, my friends and loved ones. I hold down a business whilst studying fulltime. All the while making sure I remember to hold space for myself, because that's so important too.
