Would Executive Director Jay Patel swap the UK's community pharmacy system for another countries?

His answer might surprise you.

In the latest Health Tech Hour podcast, Jay Patel shares why the solution isn't simply about swapping healthcare systems.

While resources may be stretched, one thing never changes: the dedication of community pharmacy teams. Every day, pharmacists and colleagues go above and beyond for their patients, delivering exceptional care despite increasing pressures.

Hear Jay's thoughts on what healthcare systems can learn from each other and why people remain the greatest strength of any pharmacy system.

"I almost said no."

When a Day Lewis Pharmacist offered Executive Director Jay Patel a routine blood pressure check, it seemed like a small moment.

But that simple check revealed something far more serious.

Further investigations uncovered heart disease that could have been fatal. Just three months later, Jay underwent life-saving heart bypass surgery.

In this powerful episode of the Health Tech Hour podcast, Jay shares his personal journey and why prevention, early detection and accessible healthcare services are more important than ever.

Stories like this remind us why community pharmacy matters. Sometimes, one conversation, one check, or one appointment can change the course of a person's life.

What if AI isn't replacing people... but giving them more time to care for people?

On the Health Tech Hour podcast, our Executive Director, Jay Patel, shares his perspective on AI in healthcare.

For Jay, AI isn't about replacing clinical judgement. It's about reducing administrative noise, capturing conversations through transcription, and helping organise thoughts more effectively.

The result? More time for what matters most: meaningful patient care.

A great pharmacist does so much more than dispense medicines.

They listen, reassure, solve problems, support patients through difficult moments, and help people feel confident about their health. Every single day.

This World Pharmacists Day, we're proud to shine a spotlight on Lucy Mack, the recipient of our Pharmacist of the Year award at last year's Day Lewis Conference.

Lucy embodies everything that makes community pharmacy so special: expertise, compassion, and a genuine commitment to helping others. But as she'd be the first to say, it's a team effort.

"I couldn't do it without my team... who leave me stress-free in the consultation room, helping patients."

Today, we're celebrating Lucy and every pharmacist who goes above and beyond for their patients and communities. Thank you for the care, dedication, and difference you make every day. πŸ’Šβœ¨

313 confirmed MenB cases in England last year.
And 83% of all invasive meningococcal disease cases were caused by MenB.

It might not be something you think about between lectures, socials and settling into halls, but university students are at higher risk because of close contact and shared living spaces.

If you're living in student accommodation for the first time and you're eligible for the FREE* NHS MenB catch-up vaccine, now is the time to get it sorted.

A quick appointment today could help protect you throughout the academic year πŸ’›
