Can you have glaucoma even when your eye pressure is normal?

Yes. While raised eye pressure is an important risk factor for glaucoma, some people can develop optic nerve damage even when their eye pressure is within the normal range. This is known as normal-tension glaucoma.

That’s why a normal eye-pressure reading doesn’t always rule out glaucoma. A comprehensive eye examination looks at more than just pressure — including the health of the optic nerve.

Watched the eclipse today? Don’t ignore changes in your vision.

Looking directly at the sun—even briefly during a partial eclipse—can cause *solar retinopathy*, a form of retinal damage that may not cause pain at the time of exposure.

Symptoms can appear hours later and may include:

* Blurred or reduced vision
* A dark or blank spot in your central vision
* Straight lines appearing wavy or distorted
* Objects appearing smaller than usual
* Unusual colours or increased sensitivity to light

The good news is that many people improve over time. However, some can be left with lasting changes in their vision, which is why *early assessment matters.*

If your vision feels different after watching the eclipse, *don’t wait and see. Get your eyes checked.*
