Happy Monday! It’s been a while since I’ve shared some journaling prompts!! These are simple but powerful. Give yourself some time and space to try these out, I’ve always noticed that a lot more than I anticipated can come through from these little simple prompts!

A lot of us probably 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ and that’s okay. There will be reasons why we learnt these behaviours, and generally these behaviours once kept us safe or helped us to cope with difficult situations and dysfunctions...which is something worth thinking about and reflecting on (on your own if it feels safe, or with a trusted friend/family member, or mental health professional)

when we realise these behaviours are now hurting us...we might want to make it our intention to create safety within ourselves, to get to know ourselves and understand ourselves so we can live in alignment with our goals and values and to develop a secure and healthy relationship with ourselves...all of this is key for our own growth and development but even more so to help us cultivate healthy, safe and secure relationships with others 💗

In life we will go through times where we loose our power, where we feel powerless- and this could be because of certain things and situations we have been through, or certain people and relationships we have been in

When this happens, it’s easy to loose ourselves and stay stuck in how we feel. And while it’s important we notice this, and allow ourselves to feel it, it’s also important we do things, no matter how small to strengthen our sense of self.

You don’t have to stay in that space of feeling powerless, you are allowed to build yourself up and take your power back 💗

(Ps. I don’t mean egotistical power here, I mean the power to be who we are, the power to show up, the power to do things, the power to implement change in our lives, the power to take action etc)

I found this on my notes this week from a while back after hearing this come up in a few of my client sessions with young teens. They felt reluctant to share and allow themselves to feel and acknowledge things they were going through because ‘other people have it much worse’.

So I wanted to share because yes, other people may have it worse than you but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t space for you to share and feel like what you are going through. Both are hard and both can exist 💗

Taking up space means believing that you have value and purpose to share with others. It means finding the strength to let your self be seen. It means believing and knowing that your voice has value and that it is valid!

I received messages asking what we can do to practise taking up space- so here are some ways in which we can do just that. I write them from a place of I struggle with a lot of these too and I am trying to work on them. We are in this together. It’s hard but let’s start with baby steps 💗

We will be exploring boundaries in this months session! This is for you if you struggle with identifying, practising and voicing boundaries in your life.

come along for this journaling experience where we will dive in and explore boundaries using both written and creative prompts!

This is a theme that comes up so much in my own therapy and also in my work with clients. For many, playing small has been the default way of being and so much of the time it’s done unconsciously. Let’s become more aware of this and catch ourselves when we are doing some of these things

I’ll be sharing some reasons why we find it hard to take up space in my next post

What are you holding on to that you feel it’s time to let go of? Comment below!⬇️⬇️

This is the time of the year where the trees start shedding their leaves and the grounds are filled with beautiful, rich autumn leaves! This process of shedding is essential for trees and they do it with complete grace and surrender!

Almost like they are letting go with absolute trust that newer, fresher and greener leaves will soon grow!

So this is a reminder that it’s okay to let go. It may be the very thing we need to do in order to make space for something that we are calling for and that is calling for us. There is no rush. Let go at your own pace, and when it feels right for you! 🍁🍂🍃

Breath is such an underrated, and a not enough talked about resource we have for self care, self regulation, connection to self and emotional regulation!

Something I’ve been working on a lot recently is awareness of my breath. I’ve recently started seeing a body psychotherapist and he constantly encourages me to become aware of my breath. I’ve realised how breath is such a powerful way to understand what is going on in our bodies.

Are we holding our breath? If so, what is it we are trying to hold in our bodies, what are we not able to let go of? Are we breathing irregularly? Are we breathing really shallow? All of this is information! Notice your breath this week! Notice when it changes, notice when it’s the most free, notice everything!
