Thirty years of icap. A dinner at the Irish Embassy. And not even a tube strike could keep the community away.

Last night, icap celebrated its 30th anniversary at a dinner hosted by Ambassador Martin Fraser and Mrs Deirdre Fraser at the Irish Embassy London. The evening brought together some of the most committed and generous people in the Irish community in the UK; icap Ambassadors, trustees, supporters, and representatives from Irish charities, community groups and organisations across the country.

Outside, the thunderstorms rolled in and the tubes ground to a halt. Inside, the mood was warm, the speeches were heartfelt and the room felt exactly like what thirty years of showing up for a community should feel like.

Thank you to Ambassador Martin Fraser and Mrs Deirdre Fraser for hosting us so generously. Thank you to Richard Logue and Fionuala Bonnar for words that reminded every person in the room why icap's work matters. And thank you to every single person who found their way through the storms and strikes to be there.

Thirty years is a milestone. The next thirty starts now, and it starts with you. Find out more about our 30 for 30 campaign and how you can be part of what comes next. Join the campaign here: https://www.icap.org.uk/icap-30-for-30-campaign/

Eight miles of London. Five iconic bridges. And a BBQ waiting at the finish line.

On the 11th of July, icap's 5 Bridges Challenge brings the Irish community in London together for one of the best days in our summer calendar. Starting at Putney Bridge at 10am, the route takes you across five of London's most iconic bridges before finishing at Blackfriars. Eight miles of riverside views, fresh air and great company, all in support of icap's free mental health services for the Irish community in the UK.

And you do not have to walk the full route. The 5 Bridges Challenge is designed to work for everyone; walk it, run it, or join at any bridge along the way. Whether you are a seasoned runner looking for a summer challenge or someone who simply wants a brilliant day out with friends, this is for you.

At the finish line, the celebration begins at The Rising Sun on Carter Lane with a gourmet BBQ, live music, and a welcome drink included in your ticket. All proceeds go directly to icap's counselling and therapy services.

Registration for the walk is £25. BBQ and Social tickets are £25. Joint tickets are also available at a discounted rate.

When did you last do something that tested you, connected you, and meant something all at the same time?

The icap 5 Bridges Challenge on the 11th of July is exactly that. An 8-mile route from Putney Bridge to Blackfriars, crossing five of London's most iconic bridges, all whilst raising vital funds for icap. icap is the only mental health charity in the UK offering free or heavily subsidised, culturally sensitive counselling and therapy to the Irish community.

This is not just a walk. It is a chance to take on a genuine challenge alongside people who share your values, set up a fundraising page and get your network behind you, and finish the day at one of the best summer socials on the London Irish calendar; the icap BBQ and Social at The Rising Sun from 1.30pm.

The route is flexible. You can start at Putney and go the distance, or join at any bridge that works for you. Registration is £25 and every penny raised goes directly to icap's services.

All you have to do is register. Sign up here: https://www.icap.org.uk/take-on-the-icap-5-bridges-challenge-2026/

Mental Health Awareness Week ends this weekend. icap's work does not.

Across this week, the conversation around mental health has been everywhere, and that does matter. But for the Irish community in the UK, access to support that truly understands their experience has never been something they could take for granted. That is exactly why icap exists. And exactly why our 30 for 30 campaign is so important.

This year, icap turns 30. Three decades of supporting the Irish community in the UK; for survivors of institutional abuse, for those facing anxiety and depression, for older Irish people living with isolation, and for anyone who has ever felt that the support available to them did not quite speak to who they are.

To mark our 30th year, we are asking the community to give £30 a month. One pound a day. A commitment that helps us plan ahead, reduce waiting lists, and keep our doors open for the people who need us most.

If this week has prompted you to think about how you can support Irish mental health in the UK, this is how. Join 30 for 30 today: https://www.icap.org.uk/icap-30-for-30-campaign/

Talking about mental health matters. Funding it matters more.

We are halfway through Mental Health Awareness Week, and across social media this week you will have seen posts, statistics and stories about the importance of mental health support. At icap, we agree with all of it. We also know that awareness without resource only goes so far.

icap provides free or heavily subsidised counselling and therapy to Irish people across the UK. This is support that is culturally sensitive, confidential, and built around the specific experience of the Irish community. In the last year alone, we delivered over 8,000 hours of therapy to more than 400 clients, many of them at little or no cost.

None of that happens without the community behind us. That is why this year, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we have launched our 30 for 30 campaign, which is an invitation to give £30 a month and help secure the next chapter of icap's work. Monthly giving is what allows us to plan, to hire the right therapists, and to say yes when someone reaches out.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the most direct way to support Irish mental health in the UK is to become a 30 for 30 donor. Join the campaign: https://www.icap.org.uk/icap-30-for-30-campaign/

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and thirty years ago, icap decided that awareness was not enough.

Mental Health Awareness Week runs from the 11th to the 17th of May, a time each year when the conversation around mental health gets a little louder, a little more open, and a little more honest. We welcome that. And we want to use this week to talk about what comes after the conversation.

icap has spent 30 years providing free or heavily subsidised, culturally sensitive counselling and therapy to Irish people living and working in the UK. Not raising awareness. Not signposting. Actually being there, in a confidential, secure environment, face to face, online or by telephone, for the people who needed it most.

This year, to mark our 30th anniversary, we have launched our 30 for 30 campaign. We are asking our community to give £30 a month, or just £1 a day, to help us keep doing what we have always done. Providing the kind of support that understands where you come from before you have to explain it.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the most powerful thing you can do is to help support our mission in providing the best mental health care to our community. Find out more about 30 for 30: https://www.icap.org.uk/icap-30-for-30-campaign/

At 4:15am on Saturday, the 9th of May, over 670 Irish men and women stepped out into the darkness across Cricklewood, Clapham, Hazelwood and Luton and walked together into the light. The walks are over, the sun has long since risen, and the full story of what happened across those four locations is now live on our website. There is also a full gallery of images from our Cricklewood walk, courtesy of Lucia Butler.

As you get ready for the Darkness Into Light London walk, don’t forget to bring your own water to stay hydrated. After the walk, the cafĆ© on Cricklewood Broadway will be open for some well-deserved refreshments, but we won’t have any at the hotel this year.

Every bit of your support, including registration fees and donations, directly benefits Pieta House, which offers therapy to individuals in suicidal distress, those affected by self-harm, or those grieving a loss to su***de, as well as icap, a UK-based charity dedicated to providing culturally sensitive therapy to the Irish community.

Join us on May 9th at 04:15am to walk in Cricklewood, Clapham Common, Luton or Hazelwood. Register using the link in our bio.
