Pre-eclampsia affects 1 in 12 pregnancies worldwide — yet it remains one of the most under-recognised dangers in maternity care.

It can develop rapidly, with little warning. Knowing the signs isn’t just knowledge — it’s the difference between life and death for mothers and babies.

⚠️ Warning signs to watch for:
🔴 Sudden high blood pressure
🔴 Severe, persistent headaches
🔴 Swelling of the face and hands
🔴 Changes in vision or blurring

Every year, 76,000 mothers and 500,000 babies are lost globally to pre-eclampsia and its complications. Most of these deaths are preventable with early detection and the right care.
