Is there anything cuter than a cat who wants to go to work? 🐱🎒

Our Care Manager, Zarina, nearly had a surprise stowaway this morning! As she was preparing to leave for a client assessment, her cat Rumi decided that the Walfinch backpack looked like the perfect place for a nap - or perhaps a ride-along. 🚗💨

Rumi was very pleased to be told that pet care is a big part of what we do at Walfinch. We know how much joy pets bring to our clients' lives, so we’re always happy to help with feeding, litter trays, or dog walking. 🐕‍🦺🐟

Sadly, Rumi was a bit gutted to find out he couldn't actually join the assessment. Better luck next time, Rumi!

🏆 WE WON! Small Business of the Year – Hammersmith & Fulham Business Awards 2026 🏆

I am absolutely delighted and deeply honoured to share that Walfinch Chiswick, Hammersmith & Kensington has been awarded Small Business of the Year at the Hammersmith & Fulham Business Awards 2026, held at the Civic Campus on Thursday, 17th September! 🎉

It was a true privilege to represent our branch as Registered Manager, attending on behalf of our wonderful Managing Director, Tanya Foster, who unfortunately could not join us on the night. Tanya – this award is a testament to your leadership and vision. 💙 You guide and support all of us every day - to all of our team Roxy Engelbrecht Visser Nicole Jacobs Zarina Khan and all of our carer - we are one ☝️

I was also fortunate to be supported by my beloved partner, Mariusz, whose encouragement made the evening even more special. Thank you for standing by me. 🌟

This recognition means so much because of what it represents. Our team delivers comprehensive, compassionate care – from simple companionship and domestic assistance through to complex, dignified end-of-life care. Every single day, we witness the difference that kindness, respect and professionalism can make in someone's life. This award belongs to every member of our incredible team who goes above and beyond for our clients and their families. 👏

Congratulations to all the other inspiring businesses who were recognised on the night – it was wonderful to celebrate alongside so many passionate people who care deeply about our borough. 🤝

💜 A SPECIAL MESSAGE 💜

Sometimes, working in care can be difficult. And then there are days like today, where it can feel like the most rewarding day of your life. ❤️

I’ve just seen the photos of one of our lovely clients enjoying lunch with her family in Paris. Seeing her smile in front of that Parisian backdrop, with her dedicated carer Allison by her side, genuinely moved me.

In home care, we have stressful days. We have long days. But these are the moments that make every second worthwhile.
This trip wasn’t just “sorted.” It was a masterclass in teamwork. Behind that one photo was a powerhouse team of women pulling together to navigate complex travel insurances, detailed risk assessments, bespoke care plan updates, regulatory compliance checks and seamless coordination with the wider care team
To my team: I am so humbled by you. You didn’t just do your jobs, you were genuinely excited to make this happen safely and with such kindness. Your effort, your heart, and your dedication to our clients is why we are an “Outstanding” CQC service.

And a HUGE shoutout to the incredible Allison. Thank you for everything you do out in the field. You bring so much joy, dignity, and care to our clients’ lives. We are so, so lucky to have you.

Four years of friendship and counting! 🌿🤝

Meet Mike and Peter. They were matched almost four years ago, and today, they are the best of friends. Peter is an avid gardener, and Mike is always there several times a week to support him, ensuring he can continue enjoying the hobbies he loves.

Continuity of care is at the heart of what we do. Peter recently shared his journey with us: "Third time lucky? The lovely CEO of Walfinch arrived on time... she presented me with her idea of a 'match'; a more mature gent who fitted the bill perfectly. We happen to have an affinity and work comfortably... it is clear that Walfinch will be adaptable to my needs."
