Feeling stressed? Either in one aspect of life, or in many areas all at the same time? I've got your back.

Today, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day and to raise awareness I've been asked to facilitate three virtual training sessions for Epson, on the latest mindfulness based stress-reduction techniques.

And as I'd like you to benefit as well, I decided to create a special recording of the meditations and make them available for a limited time at a discounted rate - instead of £19 - at £9 only. I've added them to my usual offer of meditations. Use coupon code "mentalhealth".

My wish is that the calm these meditations bring have a positive ripple effect on everyone you meet. Learn more here https://courses.innerpilgrim.com/courses/meditations.

I am grateful that World Mental Health Day, such an important issue for all our well-being, is slowly getting more air-time over the years. I hope that the more conversations and information we can share about our struggles and successes with mental health will continue to reduce the stigma and grow the support and resources we need to keep us all well.

Guided Meditations for Inner Calm
Easy yet profound meditations to instantly feel calm and joyous in your day-to-day life. Use coupon code "mentalhealth" for £10 discount, final investment £9 only.

Remember the childhood memory game "I'm going on a trip, and I am going to pack...."? A Buddhist teacher once shared an alternative version with me, he was talking about when we go to another place, like a new job, relationship or country, we pack our "suitcase" with all our habits, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, behaviours and character traits.

And when we arrive at our new destination we open the lid, there it all is, ready for use! And then we are surprised we end up having the same habitual patterns show up... The same feelings arise, the same dynamics unfold. So unfair, we were supposed to have a fresh start!

Sounds familiar?

I'm currently at a Buddhist Meditation Retreat Centre in Scotland, learning about how to let go of some of my own stubborn habits, beliefs, emotions and thought patterns. Sitting on a meditation cushion, watching my mind and heart, kindly, compassionately, yet watching closely for what is no longer serving me. And I trust I will come back with a lighter "suitcase".

What are you carrying as unhelpful luggage that you’re ready to put down?

When you find yourself repeating the same patterns, feeling stuck or struggling to know how to change them, Coaching and Therapy helps you create a positive way forward.

Resonates? You’re welcome to get in touch for a free discovery call.

Warmest, Karin

How to put into words what the heart feels? I've just spend a magical ten days at this Buddhist Meditation Retreat Centre in Scotland, receiving teachings on The Five Companions (contentment, rejoicing, kindfullness, forgiveness and basic goodness) and profound wisdom that has enriched my life in ways I cannot describe.

May I take the blessings with me to radiate out for the benefit of those I meet, and may I return to this magical land full of kindness again and again.

Enjoy the photos, I hope the serenity of this place reaches you though the images ❤️.

Discover the rise of the midlife sabbatical through conversations with women who have chosen to press pause. And let's explore the practical realities and inspiring growth potential of taking an extended break.

I'm interviewed for VOGUE about my two year spiritual sabbatical (2017-2020), living in Buddhist monasteries learning about compassion, meditation and mindfulness in Nepal and India.

So I appeared on BBC Radio a few weeks ago, now in VOGUE: clients are starting to joke about getting my signature 😄.

Free Dream Interpretation Guide inside as a gift for World Dream Day.

Do you remember your dreams?
Just a fleeting glimpse
When you wake up?
Or the kind that feels so real,
Staying with you the entire day?

On the 25th of September
It's World Sleep Day
And I decided to share
A very profound technique with you to
Interpret the meaning of your dreams
From a psychological perspective.

You can read it on my blog
(On my sister website Inner Pilgrim)
Journey through the inner landscape
Of your dreams:
https://www.innerpilgrim.com/blog/journey-through-the-inner-landscape-of-your-dreams

This is not a standard
One-size-fits-all dream dictionary.
This a path to unfold the wisdom
Of your inner landscape,
Far beyond your rational mind.

“We dream to get us closer to our essence.”

DREAM INTERPRETATION - THE ULTIMATE GUIDE
https://www.innerpilgrim.com/blog/journey-through-the-inner-landscape-of-your-dreams

Dreams are a gift from your unconscious,
Carrying a message that,
Once understood,
Will show you the way.
Enjoy the guidance via my blog.

Wishing you insightful dreams,
Karin xx

Trouble sleeping? Listen to this podcast with new tips.
Sleep is something we all need, but between busy social lives, work, screens, stress and the pressure to always be productive, getting enough of it can feel impossible.

And while the odd late night probably isn’t going to do us any harm, what happens when poor sleep becomes a regular part of our lives?

I’m interviewed by the lovely Grace McIntosh for her popular podcast Quarter Life Questions, to chat about why so many of us struggle with sleep and what we can actually do to improve it.

From the impact of social media and our mental health to napping, sleep routines and whether you can really catch up on lost sleep, we’re getting into the science behind sleep and how to make it work for you.

Podcast on Sleep: How to get better sleep: the truth about naps, impact of too much screen time and tips to relax with Life Coach & Psychotherapist Karin Peeters.

My interview starts at 5.30 minutes into the podcast.

Listen on Apple Podcasts:
https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/how-to-get-better-sleep-the-truth-about-naps-impact/id1809452545?i=1000788424591

✨ In this podcast, Grace and I chat about:
- Why so many people struggle to get enough good-quality sleep
- The impact of screens, social media and hustle culture on our sleep
- The link between sleep and our mental health
- Whether you can really catch up on lost sleep through naps or rest
- Practical tips and techniques to help you relax and improve your sleep

It was a joy to be speaking as a guest on her podcast, and a lot less stressful compared to my live BBC Radio interview recently 😊.

Sleep well.
With love, Karin

PS
Next week we'll stay on the theme of sleep, as it'll be World Dream Day on the 25th of September. I'll be sharing my Ultimate Dream Interpretation Guide with you, so keep an eye out for it!

☕👹🫖👿Having tea with our demons. Turns out it brings calm .

I said to a client recently,
"While things feel heavy,
Might as well
Befriend the heaviness,
While continuing to search
For lightness and ease."

When we stop fighting
With "what is"
A calm comes over us.

You might wonder
Does she mean giving up?
But that's not it.
Leaning into discomfort
Is an active deed.
Surrender
To something bigger
Is a
Deliberate choice,
While giving up
Is a passive mindset.

Which areas of your life
Currently ask for "leaning in"?
To stop 'going against',
To stop 'fighting'.
But instead
To allow it to be,
For now,
No matter how unpleasant
Or unwelcome.
To sit with it.
Kindly,
Compassionately.
Invite the 'demons'
For a cup of tea.
See what they've
Got to say.

Leaning in
Instead of fighting
Makes the here and now
More do-able,
More manageable,
Less exhausting.
Befriending brings calm.

When we give
Ourselves a breather,
To just be
Amongst the chaos;
A space opens up
Where we can rest.
Take a little pause,
And feel a soft kindness
Nourish our battered souls.
And in that
Compassionate space
We can be with our fears
And they will
Start to shift.
A new way of being,
Different solutions,
Fresh ideas
Will start to arise.

And that
Is what I offer
In my sessions:
A compassionate space
Where fears lessen
And solutions arise.

Take a rest,
Befriend the demons
Of self-doubt, failure,
Rejection or guilt,
All their different
Scary faces.

Tell yourself,
This too shall pass.
And please know
That I believe in you.

With love,
Karin

Live on BBC Radio London... 🎙️ Was I nervous? You bet I was!

Is September inspiring you to get your ducks in a row? Then listen to my BBC Radio London interview on September Reset. I was interviewed on Tuesday (Sept 1st) and tried hard not to think of all the people on the road or in open plan offices listening in, while not to stumble over my words . Luckily, it went super well.

For many of us, getting back to the routines is a natural moment of reflection and reassess our priorities. You can listen to the replay on the BBC website for a couple of days (you need to create a free account). My interview begins at 19.30 minutes into the show: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0030ljy

Or you can listen via this audio file, which automatically downloads. As BBC doesn't allow commercial use of the recording of the show after their link expires, I created this audio file as my gift to you: https://www.vitaliscoaching.com/s/BBC-Radio-London-September-Reset-Karin-Peeters.m4a

Enjoy listening to the inspiring interview (with a big thank you to Nikki Bedi and the team at BBC Radio, and learn about all-or-nothing mindsets, practical actions to make your September Reset happen, and advice how not to fall back into old habits.

My best wishes for September, may it be full of kind, intentional decisions, true to yourself.

Warmest,
Karin

Just spoke live on BBC Radio Berkshire/Oxford about how to change careers in later life.

EasyJet are looking to hire cabin crew who are specifically over 50: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/easyjet-over-50-recruitment-midlife-career-change-work-b3039011.html, and it’s a genius move.

- My advice is to look backwards before looking forwards.
Examine previous work and life experiences to identify where you felt energised or drained, appreciated or taken for granted, growing or stagnant. Ask yourself “When do I feel most like myself at work?”.

- Don’t start with transferable skills, instead look at your qualities as a person. Focus on your qualities as a person, in what role, industry, work environment and culture are you most yourself? It’s about transferrable value, not just skills.

- Maturity comes with a deep desire to make intentional, aligned choices. My clients realise how precious their time is, and want to pursue a career that is truly meaningful to them.

- Organisations have a responsibility around ageism.
It's the individual's responsibility to remain employable but I believe organisations need to create opportunities for all levels of experience as well.

Life is precious. Don’t waste it doing a job you hate. A fulfilling career is possible for you too.
