We are incredibly proud to share this review for our founder and Clinical Director, Sarah Lawson. πŸ’™

This patient came to us having already consulted multiple physiotherapists for a highly complex ankle peroneal tendon condition, without achieving the progress they needed.

This is the kind of outcome that drives everything we do. Complex presentations that have not responded to treatment elsewhere, seen by the right specialist, with the time, expertise, and care to finally get to the root of the problem.

If you or a family member has been struggling with an ankle, foot, or other injury without finding lasting relief, Sarah and our team are here to help.

Every patient deserves the right expert. Not just any expert. πŸ’™

There is a meaningful difference between seeing a physiotherapist and seeing the right physiotherapist for your specific condition. It is a distinction that matters enormously, particularly for complex, persistent, or post-operative presentations.

At Physio Remedies, every member of our team specialises in a specific area of the body. A shoulder presentation is seen by a shoulder specialist. A hand and wrist injury is treated by a clinician with years of dedicated focus in exactly that area. Post-operative knee rehabilitation is managed by someone who understands the surgical protocol that was used and what the recovery timeline should look like.

This is not just good practice. It is the difference between adequate care and genuinely excellent care, and it is the standard we hold ourselves to across every appointment.

It is also why consultants and surgeons across London refer their patients to us with confidence.

If you or someone you know is looking for specialist physiotherapy in Mayfair, we would love to help.

Holidays are supposed to leave you rested and restored. So why do so many of us come home with a stiff back, aching neck, or shoulders that feel worse than before we left? 🌞

It is not always the beach volleyball or the ambitious hike. Sometimes it is the holiday itself.

Our new blog post covering five unexpected ways summer holidays can cause pain, and what you can actually do about them:

🧳 The suitcase challenge: lifting, dragging, and hoisting into overhead lockers before the holiday has even begun

✈️ The aeroplane seat: several hours in a position that no physiotherapy textbook would recommend

πŸ–οΈ The sunlounger: the one place everyone loves that quietly gives them a bad back by chapter three of their book

πŸ’§ Dehydration: not a direct cause of injury, but a reliable contributor to headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, and making everything feel harder

β˜€οΈ Sunburn: more than skin deep. A burnt back or shoulders can affect how you sleep, how you move, and how comfortable everyday activities feel for days afterwards

The blog also covers how to keep your physiotherapy rehabilitation going on holiday without it taking over, and when to seek advice if pain does not settle after you return.

Well worth a read before you pack.

Thinking about shockwave therapy? Here is what you need to know first.

Shockwave therapy is a highly effective treatment for many musculoskeletal conditions, but it is not appropriate for everyone. That is why, at Physio Remedies, we always carry out a thorough screening for contraindications before any treatment begins.

Shockwave therapy is not suitable if you:

🚫 Are pregnant
🚫 Have a blood clotting disorder or take anticoagulant medication
🚫 Have cancer or an active infection in or near the treatment area
🚫 Have had a recent steroid injection in the same site

Patient safety always comes first in our clinical decision making. If focused shockwave therapy is not the right treatment for your condition, we will take the time to guide you towards the most suitable alternative, so you always leave with a clear path forward.

If you have any questions about whether shockwave therapy could be suitable for you, our team is happy to talk it through.

How is your lower back pain actually affecting your life?

For so many people, it has been going on for months and is not improving. You have tried rest. You have tried exercises. Perhaps you even had a course of treatment that helped at first, before the improvement stopped. You are starting to wonder whether this is simply something you have to manage rather than resolve.

It is affecting your sleep and your sport. You cannot find a comfortable position at night. Running, cycling, or training has had to stop or be significantly reduced. The things that keep you well, physically and mentally, are no longer accessible to you.

You cannot get through a working day without pain. Back pain from sitting becomes a constant presence. You are shifting position every twenty minutes, standing at your desk, moving around the office just to cope. By the afternoon, your concentration is gone.

You have had treatment elsewhere and stopped progressing. You are better than you were at your worst point, but you cannot get back to the activities that matter to you. You may have had a frightening scan report that left you more anxious than informed.

That gap, between where you are and where you want to be, is exactly where we specialise.

If this sounds familiar, our team at Physio Remedies would love to help you close that gap.

What does men's health physiotherapy treatment actually involve?

Every patient is different, and assessment always comes first. A detailed initial men's health assessment at our Mayfair clinic provides a thorough understanding of your symptoms, history and goals before any treatment plan is agreed.

Specialist assessment: a careful clinical assessment to understand the nature and drivers of your symptoms, including pelvic floor function, breathing patterns, movement and any relevant musculoskeletal factors.

Pelvic floor rehabilitation: personalised exercises to improve pelvic floor function, build coordination and strength where needed, and reduce pain. For many men with pelvic pain, the priority is learning to release and relax the pelvic floor rather than strengthen it. Rehabilitation is progressed gradually and designed around your lifestyle and activity level.

Manual therapy: hands-on treatment to address muscle tightness, trigger points, and the deep myofascial connections between the pelvic floor and the wider musculoskeletal system, including the hips, lower back and abdominal wall.

Breathwork: breathing pattern dysfunction and pelvic floor problems are closely linked, anatomically and functionally. Specific breathwork techniques are integrated into treatment where indicated, supporting both pelvic floor rehabilitation and wider pain and tension management.

Pain management and education: advice and practical strategies to help you understand your symptoms, manage flare-ups, make informed lifestyle choices and maintain long-term progress.

If you have been experiencing pelvic pain or related symptoms, we offer a discreet, professional, and thorough approach to your care.

Your shoulder has been freezing, and somewhere along the way, you were told to simply wait it out.

This is particularly common advice given to women who are perimenopausal or menopausal. But "it will resolve in 18 months" is not an adequate answer when you cannot reach behind your back to fasten a bra, when getting dressed has become a daily struggle, and when night pain is ruining what little sleep you are already getting.

MYTH: Frozen shoulder just needs 18 months to pass.

FACT: You do not have to spend months simply suffering through it. Early assessment and the right treatment can help you move better and feel better, sooner.

At Physio Remedies, we understand the connection between hormonal changes and joint health, and we know that "wait and see" is rarely the full answer. If frozen shoulder has been affecting your sleep, your daily life, or your confidence, we would love to help.

Ever wondered what shockwave therapy is actually doing?

In a single session, focused acoustic waves reach deep into the injured tissue, boosting blood flow, stimulating new collagen and breaking down scar tissue. It is not masking your pain. It is giving your body what it needs to genuinely heal.

It works well for conditions like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow and Achilles tendinopathy, particularly when rest and other treatments have not helped.

Read the full guide on our website to find out if it could be right for you.

No two injuries are the same, and neither are our treatment plans.

At Physio Remedies, we take the time to understand your injury, your history and what recovery means to you. From there, we build a plan that is tailored to get you back to doing what you love, whether that is running, gardening, getting back to work or simply moving through the day without pain.

Every member of our team has been qualified for at least 18 years, and each of us specialises in a specific area of the body. That means you are not seeing a generalist. You are seeing the right expert for your injury.

We are based at the Lansdowne Club in Mayfair, and you do not need a GP referral to book.

Struggling with heel pain that just will not go away?

Clinical research shows that 60 to 80% of patients experience real pain reduction with focused shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis, particularly when it has lasted longer than 6 months. Most people also find they can walk and move more easily, with results that keep improving for months after treatment.

Here is the part that is easy to miss though. Just because the pain has gone does not mean the tissue has fully healed.

Plantar fasciitis develops because the tissue has been overloaded for a long time. Shockwave helps reduce the pain and supports healing, but it is the loading programme afterwards that rebuilds the tissue's ability to cope with everyday life again. Stop the rehab as soon as it feels better, and there is a real risk the pain comes back, because the tissue was never built back up to full strength.

At Physio Remedies, we always combine shockwave with a structured, progressive exercise programme so the recovery actually lasts.

No GP referral needed. Book at physioremedies.com/booking or call us on 020 3012 1222.
