๐ Supporting understanding across generations this World Alzheimerโs Month ๐
As World Alzheimerโs Month draws to a close, weโre reflecting on the importance of raising awareness and understanding of dementia, not only among adults, but with younger generations too.
Our Head of Dementia at Hamberley Care Homes, David Moore, has created two special colouring books for children, โVisiting Grandmaโs Houseโ and โGranddadโs Lost Toolbox.โ ๐๐๏ธ
Through simple, friendly stories and activities, the books have been designed to help children understand dementia in an age-appropriate way, encouraging them to ask questions and discover how they can continue to connect with someone living with dementia.
Children visiting our Hamberley care homes have already been enjoying the books, with some spending time colouring alongside residents. ๐ These shared moments create wonderful opportunities for conversation, connection and understanding across generations.
Most importantly, the books share a simple message: even when dementia changes some things, there are still so many ways to enjoy meaningful moments together.
While World Alzheimerโs Month may be coming to an end, at Hamberley Care Homes, weโll continue raising awareness, encouraging understanding and creating meaningful connections all year round. ๐
