What patients do we generally work with?
Mainly our patients focus around women’s health, female and male fertility, pregnancy and pain. All of which we take a whole body, life course approach too. We look at why symptoms appear, how to resolve root causes and prevent ill health in the future.
This is holistic health at its best.

I promise, I practise what I preach!
Chinese medicine changed my life, so I live by so many of its key teachings as well as supporting my patients in these lifestyle habits.
5 Chinese Medicine habits that changed my health

1. I always keep my feet warm. Socks and slippers. There are so many acupuncture points on the feet and ankles, and warm feet can impact the whole body circulation

2. I start my day with breakfast. Not skipping breakfast supports my digestive energy

3. I limit my intake of cold and raw foods. These weaken the digestive fire, creating bloating and feeling sluggish.

4. I am asleep before 10.30pm. From 11pm, it’s important to be asleep for the benefit of our blood. 11pm-1am are key hours to be asleep.

5. I view my emotional health as important as my physical health. Emotions that are not addressed can cause lots of imbalance and physical symptoms. So I try to support my emotional health as much as my physical health.

There is a BIG gap in fertiltiy care. We know that male factor infertility contributes to around 50% of all cases of infertility.

We know that s***m health impacts ability to conceive, miscarriage risk, pregnancy risk and future health outcomes for offspring. Male partners health is 50% of the puzzle.

But so often male partners are overlooked, with pressure mounting on women to “be healthier”

We are offering bespoke online consultations for male partners to better understand their results, planning next steps, providing tailored diet and lifestyle advice that goes well beyond a quick google.

You can use our online consultations with our Andrology practitioner, Ellie, as a stand alone support. Or combine with seeing an acupuncturist to provide even greater, more holistic care.

Our understanding of male fertility influence is growing, and now the care provided needs to catch up! If you or your partner are unsure of where to turn next with male fertility, let us help you!

Our free resource “The First Steps to Understanding Male Fertility” is a great place to start. Find through the link in our bio.

Welcome our new Andrology Practitioner - Ellie Russell

Ellie now offers online consultations. These appointments are for individuals or couples looking to further understand male fertility and gain invaluable support in your fertility journey.

Ellie has spent the last five years working across quality control, diagnostic laboratories, and fertility care. She currently works in a Male Fertility Clinic across London and Manchester, analysing samples and supporting patients through their fertility testing at the clinic.

Since working in a fertility clinic, Ellie has seen first-hand how limited knowledge and understanding of male fertility and the testing options available can lead to heightened anxiety and delayed answers. She is passionate about reducing the stigma around male fertility testing and focusing on education by helping explain what happens in a fertility clinic, what to expect from fertility appointments, and who can offer support during their fertility journey.

Ellie aims to provide comfort, professionalism, and knowledge to help navigate and cut through the misinformation. She is committed to ensuring couples and individuals are empowered to understand how fertility testing can be utilised.

We are so excited to have Ellie on our team, and her bookings are open now! Link in bio!

Male fertility and UPFs! There is now a large cohort study showing association between paternal high UPF consumption and chance of conception and risk of sub fertility.

There were also associations with maternal high UPF consumption and early embryo development. It’s interesting to s*x specific differences in the impacts of UPF’s.
This paper does some legwork in our need for considering the male health in fertility work ups and supports what we already know. Investigating, thoroughly, and supporting effectively, the male partner is essential in fertility work ups.

And that’s why we are upping our support for male fertility more than ever before 🤭🤫 more details coming later this week.

Day 5 of the Spring Reset - the perfect TCM Tea
Ok day 5, who’s still with me?
Today is a really simple tea recipe. Making seasonal teas really lies at the heart of Chinese Medicine and something I often encourage patients to do. If you haven’t ever gotten into making herbal teas in this way, I really think you should. The ritual of it is so lovely.

This tea is perfect both for the time of year but also for many of my patients who also have menstrual issues going on.
Jujube - Chinese red dates are sweet and nourishing.
Goji - even sweeter, good for the blood and the mind
Chrysanthemum flowers - smooth the Liver, they gently encourage movement
Lemon - sour, the flavour of the season, and perfect for stagnation

You’ll find these ingredients all in the Chinese supermarket or order them online. It’s actually a really delicious drink!
Bonus: allow the tea to gentle bubble away for 15-20 mins the night before while making dinner, then add to a thermos, ready for sipping on the next morning.

Day 6 tomorrow!

I am the only UK acupuncturist with a Masters of Science in Women’s Health!
I officially have my MSc, having passed with a distinction.
I’m super proud of this, it’s certainly the best thing I have ever done. And everyday I see how much of an impact it makes in my clinical work.
Forever grateful for

Meet Drew - Our new Associate Acupuncturist at A D Acupuncture 😁😁😁

Our team is growing, and we are welcoming Drew into the A D family. I first met Drew when he was a student and I was instantly impressed. I’ve had my eye on him, with every intention of bringing him onboard when that time came for the business. So I have every confidence in him and I know you are going to love working with him.

Drew is starting on February 2nd and will be working on Monday and Friday afternoons, offering appointments from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. This is amazing as my current availability is very limited when it comes to afternoons and evenings. So all of you who find appointment times tricky with me, Drew might be able to offer you something that suits your diary better.

I’m really pleased to be expanding our offering and bringing in a new team member!

A little bit of behind the scenes life lately.
1. All the dog walks in the cold
2. Home by the fire is the only place I want to be
3. Working from the soft office with the CEO (fifer)
4. Whiskey cocktails by the fire
5. The beginning of the season where a night of just cheese is considered a meal
6. Family days that include a slightly creepy puppet woman
7. Thanksgiving! The real end of autumn, and welcoming of winter.

Hi 👋👋 New Headshot!
I'm excited to share a big announcement on Monday, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to share a bit about myself and my journey with acupuncture.

I first discovered acupuncture when I was 12 years old. I was struggling with a neurological condition that left me with bladder issues, and after years of unsuccessful biomedical treatments, acupuncture changed/saved my life. After just six weeks, my symptoms started to improve, and within a year, I was symptom-free.

What's even more special is that my acupuncturist from back then is still my acupuncturist today. She's been a constant source of support and guidance in my life, even writing a piece for my wedding ceremony and bringing my original consultation documents to the wedding.

Currently, I'm going through a series of weekly acupuncture treatments, of course still with my same incredible acupuncturist. As an endo girlie, I find it really helpful to do these courses every now and then. And let me tell you, it's amazing how much of a difference it makes. I'm feeling energized and positive, bouncing off the walls after several weeks of treatment.
