Last week BABICM 2026 reminded me why I love what I do šŸ’š

Not because of the fancy agenda, but because of the amazing people and their passion to create solutions and change.

I found myself in a conversation with Janina Greene and Alex Greene about music therapy and rehabilitation.

Then absorbed by Sadia Hussains poster on electrical stimulation in dysphagia — which was truly fascinating.

Luis Williamson’s honey pots and his services that supports case managers to create perosonalised care packages was lovely to hear about.

Hearing Viv Cooper talk about why she started 3Hub — building a community of support specifically for independent case managers who so often navigate this work alone — showed so much passion and care.

And Joanna Wilkins from Bush & Co whose team children’s books explaining why kids need carers stopped me completely — such a human and needed idea.

These are just a few examples of the conversations that don’t make it onto the programme but stay with you longest.

Already thinking about next year. šŸ’š

Had two conversations today that stopped me in my tracks.

Person centred care isn’t a tick box. It’s a right.

Every person who welcomes us into their home deserves to be seen, heard and understood. Not just clinically. Culturally. Linguistically. Personally.

The statistics are stark.

People from ethnic minority backgrounds are significantly less likely to access rehabilitation after stroke or brain injury. Language barriers reduce treatment engagement by up to 50%. Cultural misunderstanding leads to misdiagnosis, poor outcomes and people giving up on a system that was never built for them.

That is not acceptable.

NexGen may be a small practice — but I am proud that between our team we speak up to 5 languages. We work across a wide range of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds and we adapt our approach to the individual in front of us. Always.

Because person centred care means nothing if it only works for some people.

Gender. Age. Culture. Religion. Language. Ethnicity.

Every one of these shapes how a person experiences illness, recovery and the world around them.

Nobody tells you what chronic illness really costs you.

Not just the bad days. Not just the fatigue, the appointments, the adjustments.

The money. šŸ’·

40% of women are living with a health condition right now — managing careers, families and symptoms simultaneously while quietly losing ground financially.

A 5 year career break at 35 costs up to £70,000 from your final pension.

1.54 million women in the UK are now out of work due to chronic illness — up 48% in just 5 years.
And behind every one of those statistics is a woman who worked hard, had ambition, and didn’t get the right support in time.
That’s what I do.

As a specialist neuro OT and coach with over 10 years NHS neurology experience, I work with professional women navigating neurological conditions and chronic illness — building strategies to protect their career, their income and their future.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. šŸ’š

🌟 Help Tim Tackle Parkinson’s, One Hole at a Time! ⛳

After walking 64 miles along the Norfolk Coast Path back in 2018—raising a staggering Ā£75,000 for Cure Parkinson’s—Tim is embarking on another remarkable challenge to mark the charity’s 20th anniversary. On 27th September 2025, he’ll be playing 27 holes of golf at Oundle Golf Club to shine a light on Parkinson’s research. Can we rally behind him and help him reach his goal?

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to better treatments—and ultimately, a CURE. Which is POSSIBLE in our lifetime!

Let’s cheer Tim on and share this to help him make every swing count! ⛳

Shared with Tim’s consent.
