Mayr or Ayurveda – what’s the difference, and which might be right for you?
It’s a question our Wellness Travel Specialists hear from clients, and while both approaches can involve personalised food, treatments and changes to everyday habits, their underlying philosophies are quite different.
The Mayr Method centres particularly on digestive health and how you eat, often within a medically supervised programme. Depending on the clinic, this might include medical consultations and tests, a tailored eating plan, digestive rest, mindful eating, movement and other therapies.
Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system that considers you as a whole. An Ayurvedic practitioner may assess your *dosha*, or individual constitution, and use this to shape a programme that could include personalised food, herbal preparations and body treatments, yoga, meditation and lifestyle guidance.
So which should you choose?
Mayr might appeal if you’re interested in digestive health, a structured approach to food and eating habits and, depending on the retreat, medical assessment.
Ayurveda might appeal if you’re drawn to a traditional, holistic approach, with a programme shaped around your constitution and a focus on rest, routine and lifestyle.
Of course, there’s much more to both approaches – and the right choice depends on what you want from your time away.
If you’re curious about Mayr or Ayurveda but aren’t sure where to start, speak to our Wellness Travel Specialists and we can help you find the approach – and retreat – that feels right for you.
