Do you know the 4 Ts of type 1 diabetes?

The most common symptoms are the 4 Ts:
Toilet
Thirsty
Tired
Thinner
If you think you or your child has any of these symptoms, ask for an urgent GP appointment or call 111.

Struggling with hay fever? Youโ€™re not alone ๐ŸŒผ

Hay fever is a common allergic reaction to pollen that can cause sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes and throat, and coughing ๐Ÿคง

While thereโ€™s no cure, there are lots of ways to manage your symptoms and feel more comfortable ๐Ÿ‘

Simple things that can help include:
โ€ข Keeping windows and doors closed when pollen levels are high
โ€ข Showering and changing clothes after being outdoors
โ€ข Wearing sunglasses to protect your eyes from pollen ๐ŸŒค๏ธ

A pharmacist can also help by recommending treatments such as antihistamines, nasal sprays or eye drops to ease your symptoms ๐Ÿ’Š

If your symptoms are severe or not improving with treatment, itโ€™s important to speak to your GP for further advice ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

The Met Office has issued extreme heat warnings as temperatures are expected to rise significantly across parts of the UK, with the potential for record-breaking June temperatures.
Hot weather can affect anyone, but older people, young children, pregnant women and those with long-term health conditions are particularly at risk.

To stay safe:
โ˜€๏ธ Keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11amโ€“3pm)
๐Ÿ’ง Drink plenty of water and avoid becoming dehydrated
๐Ÿ  Keep your home as cool as possible by closing curtains and blinds
๐Ÿ‘’ Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and a hat when outdoors
๐Ÿ‘ต Check on older relatives, neighbours and vulnerable friends
๐Ÿš‘ Seek medical advice if you or someone else becomes unwell due to the heat

Please take care of yourself and others during this period of hot weather.

Looking after your baby or toddlerโ€™s teeth starts earlier than you might think ๐Ÿ’™

You should begin brushing your childโ€™s teeth as soon as their first milk tooth appears. This helps build a healthy routine and protects their teeth from decay ๐Ÿ‘

For babies and toddlers up to age 3:
โ€ข Brush twice a day โ€“ last thing at night and once more during the day
โ€ข Use a smear of toothpaste (about the size of a grain of rice) with at least 1,000ppm fluoride
โ€ข Gently brush all teeth and gums, even if itโ€™s just a little at first ๐Ÿชฅ

For children aged 3โ€“6:
โ€ข Use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste
โ€ข Help them brush until theyโ€™re confident (usually around age 7)
โ€ข Encourage them to spit out toothpaste and not swallow it ๐Ÿ‘

Itโ€™s also important to limit sugary foods and drinks, as these can lead to tooth decay. Water and milk are the best choices for healthy teeth ๐Ÿฅ›

Starting good habits early can make a big difference to your childโ€™s oral health as they grow ๐Ÿ’ซ

This week is Cervical Screening Awareness Week.

Cervical screening saves thousands of lives each year โ€“ and takes just around 10 minutes or less.

All women aged 25 to 64 are invited for cervical screening every 5 years. The test checks for cell changes in your cervix. Caught early, these can be treated before they become something more serious.

Youโ€™re in control throughout โ€” you can ask questions, request a smaller speculum, try a different position, or pause or stop the test at any time.

Make your appointment when you get invited. Missed your last appointment? Contact your GP practice to book another.
