After 2 burnouts, my body craves structure, routine and stability to feel safe. Camping kind of throws all that out of the window 😆. Preparing what I have capacity for to brace the weekend. Any campers out there?

😲 Did you know loneliness is equivalent to smoking 15 ci******es a day?

♥️ The Jackson Heart Study found women with higher social network scores had a 21% lower risk of coronary heart disease and heart failure. With heart disease climbing sharply for women after menopause (due to the loss of protection from oestrogen), social connection becomes an important protective factor.

Social connection is not a fluffy nice-to-have but preventative medicine that cannot be ignored.

🧠 It directly influences brain chemistry and helps regulate stress responses, being the strongest protective factor for depression.

💪 It’s also been linked to lower risk of mild cognitive impairment, dementia, and mortality.

Saying that, it’s not about quantity but quality. We can be busy and be surrounded by many people but still feel lonely. It’s about genuine connections, trusted bonds and social integration.

Grateful to have connected with a wonderful group of ladies who are just enthusiastic about fitness and eating good food as me. I believe it’s a start of a beautiful friendship 🩷

As the saying goes “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”….. you could potentially argue “A weight training session keeps the aesthetic doctor away”.

Personally for me as I started taking weight training seriously the last 4 years, I’ve had minimal facial loss in my Perimenopause and not require dermal filler to restore volume which naturally changes as our fat pad shifts with age.

We cannot stop the ageing process but we can slow it WAY DOWN.

Training stimulates the release of GH (growth hormones) which promotes protein synthesis, including repairing the collagen proteins that are an important component of the skin.

It also stimulates insulin growth factor (IGF-1) which can influence fibroblast functioning, including inhibition of collagen breakdown and induction of collagen expression. Not to mention the benefits of muscle and bone preservation, which keeps us standing proud and tall.

If you weight train, what changes have you noticed on your face?

Resetting for the week ahead. Slowly coming out of the woods after school half term and returning from a fitness escape in Croatia. A couple of weeks off IG and I feel rusty creating again. Thank you for the inspiration to get back on the horse.
