🇨🇭 We are delighted to announce that the European Academy of Optometry and Optics Conference 2027 will take place in Bern, Switzerland, from 21–23 May 2027 at BERNEXPO.

Following the official handover in Riga, preparations are now underway for what promises to be another outstanding EAOO conference, bringing together optometrists, opticians, researchers, educators, students and industry partners from across Europe and beyond.

EAOO 2027 will be hosted by our Swiss partners — OSO, OPTIKSCHWEIZ, AOVS, AOR and FHNW — whose collaboration and commitment will help create an inspiring event focused on education, research, innovation and professional exchange.

Switzerland holds a special place in EAOO history, having hosted the very first EAOO conference in 2009. We are excited to return nearly two decades later and look forward to welcoming our community to Bern for three days of learning, networking and collaboration.

More information will be shared in the coming months as we begin the journey towards EAOO 2027.

🔐 Optometry Escape Room Challenge at EAOO 2026!
Think fast, solve clues, and save the clinic! 👁️🕵️‍♂️

At EAOO 2026, participants will have the chance to experience a unique interactive Optical Escape Room challenge created by Martin O'Brien (Ireland) and sponsored by HOYA Vision Care.

In this immersive team-based experience, the clinic’s practice management system has crashed — locking access to examination and dispensing services. Fortunately, the practice manager has hidden a secret restart code somewhere around the office.

🧩 Your mission:
Work together to uncover hidden clues, solve optical and optometry-based puzzles, crack secret codes, and find all digits needed to restart the system before time runs out.

⏳ Time will be your greatest challenge.
👥 Teamwork, observation, and quick thinking are essential.
🔬 Challenges are based on real optics and optometry knowledge.
🏆 Points will be awarded for successful completion of challenges, and the winning team will receive a special prize at the conference closing ceremony sponsored by HOYA Vision Care.

This is not your ordinary escape room — it’s designed especially for the sharpest minds in optometry and optics.
