The date for the Merton Half Marathon, a collaboration between Merton Council and The Great Run Company, has been set for 14th March 2027. A brand-new race - South London's only closed-road marathon - will start and finish in Morden.

Join us for an inspiring talk on an anniversary walk from Wimbledon to Westminster, celebrating one of Wimbledon’s greatest heroes in the fight to abolish slavery. The talk will also include reference to the Clapham sect, Olaudah Equiano and other abolitionists. It will also touch on modern controversial elements, including the recent development of modern slavery.

Richard Smart, a member of the Society’s Local History Group, is a Blue Badge and City of London Tourist Guide.

No need to book, free entry for members. Non-members also free but we do ask for a donation please.
