We're looking for volunteers at our Sydenham and Orpington sites. You could be sitting with someone on our in-patient ward, welcoming visitors through our doors, offering a relaxing spa or pampering session, or supporting our physiotherapy gym team.

Today, 22 June, we celebrate what would have been Dame Cicely Saunders' 108th birthday.

Dame Cicely founded St Christopher's Hospice in 1967, and her vision continues to shape how we, and others, care for people and their families.

We were delighted to welcome Ellie Reeves, MP for East Dulwich and Lewisham West, to our Sydenham site on Friday 12 June.

Ellie's local area recently held a street party and Ellie visited us on Friday to return the fundraising buckets used at the event and to donate the £375 raised for the hospice. Colleagues from our clinical team and John Vickers, Director of Finance and Business Development at St Christopher's, were present to greet and thank Ellie for this wonderful donation and her ongoing support.

A month ago, so many of you came together to make Fun Walk what it is - a day filled with energy, generosity and community.

From walkers and volunteers, to performers, marshals and behind-the-scenes superheroes, thank you for making the magic happen.

Most importantly, your generosity means we can continue supporting people and their family members, friends and carers around them through death, dying and grief.

Thank you for bringing the fun, the heart and the community spirit. Fun Walk simply wouldn't be Fun Walk without you💙

Dr Tyrrell Evans, a Dulwich GP and long-time supporter of St Christopher’s, has been awarded a British Empire Medal in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to palliative care.

For more than 25 years, Tyrrell has helped shape care, support training, and raise vital funds in memory of his wife, Siân.

When Sam died at St Christopher's Hospice in 2024, her family returned to the hospice a few weeks later for their first Remembering with Ribbons event.

"We all wanted to come together as a family to hang a ribbon on the tree in the garden,” says John, Sam's daughter's partner. This summer, we invite you to celebrate the lives of the people you love by dedicating a colourful ribbon too.

🌿 Enjoy a peaceful visit to our Sydenham Open Gardens
📅 Saturday 13 June
🕑 2pm–5pm

Drop in for a gentle wander, tea, cake and friendly faces, all while supporting St Christopher’s Hospice.

The gardens are lovingly tended to by our volunteer gardening group who tirelessly work throughout the year in all weathers maintaining the garden.

There will be plants for sale and a selection of craft stalls. Join us for refreshments and delicious homemade cakes.
