We're helping spread the word for this important women's health research. If you're a woman aged 18–45, please consider taking a few minutes to complete this survey. Every response could make a real difference. 💜

We are developing a tool to help predict Early Menopause (EM) / Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). If you are a woman 18-45, with or without POI, take this short survey: https://bit.ly/4ac59Pl

✅POI is when your ovaries stop working before age 40 years, and EM is when menopause happens between ages 40-44 years.

Despite identified risk factors, there is currently no reliable way to predict. Please help us with our research!

🔬 New Research Highlights the Bone Health Benefits of HRT 🦴

A new study has found a link between hormone replacement therapy (HRT) use and improved bone health, with women receiving HRT found to be 69% less likely to have low bone mineral density than those not receiving treatment.

As oestrogen levels decline during menopause, bone loss can accelerate, increasing the risk of osteopenia, osteoporosis, and fractures. These latest findings highlight the important role that HRT may play in supporting long-term bone health for suitable patients.

At Hormone Health, our specialists understand the importance of assessing and monitoring bone health during and after menopause.

Our services include:
✔️ Menopause consultations
✔️ Hormone blood testing
✔️ Bone health assessments
✔️ DEXA scans to assess bone mineral density
✔️ Personalised treatment and management plans

Understanding your risk factors and monitoring your bone health can help you make informed decisions about your long-term wellbeing.

💜 : Could Fibroids Be Affecting Your Quality of Life? 💜

Around 2 in 3 women will develop fibroids at some point in their lives, making them one of the most common gynaecological conditions affecting women in the UK.

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus and affect many women during their reproductive years. While some fibroids cause no symptoms, others can have a significant impact on daily life, comfort, and overall wellbeing.

Common symptoms may include:
• Heavy or prolonged periods
• Pelvic pain or pressure
• Bloating or abdominal swelling
• Frequent urination
• Pain during s*x
• Difficulty conceiving or pregnancy-related complications

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, seeking specialist advice can help you better understand your condition and explore the most appropriate treatment options.

At Hormone Health, we understand that every woman's experience with fibroids is different. Our specialist-led approach focuses on understanding your symptoms, assessing your hormonal health, and helping you find the right management plan for your individual needs.

☀️Summer Skin, Menopause & Vitamin D: Finding the Right Balance ⚖️

🌿 Hormonal changes during menopause can affect far more than hot flushes and mood.

As oestrogen levels decline, many women notice changes in their skin, bone health and overall wellbeing — especially during the summer months.

Menopause can contribute to:
• Dry, thinner or more sensitive skin
• Reduced collagen and elasticity
• Increased pigmentation and uneven skin tone
• Higher risk of bone loss and osteoporosis
• Lower vitamin D levels

In our latest blog, Hormone Health Specialist, Dr Liz McCulloch, explores:
✔️ How menopause affects skin and bone health
✔️ The connection between sunscreen and vitamin D
✔️ Safe sun habits during summer
✔️ Tips to support healthy skin, bones and wellbeing

PCOS to PMOS: What You Need to Know 💜

🩺 An important change designed to support diagnosis and treatment.

PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) is now being renamed PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — following an international consensus led by the International PCOS Network alongside leading clinical, academic, and patient organisations.

The change aims to better reflect the true nature of the condition, which affects far more than just the ovaries.

For many women, PMOS can involve a combination of hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive symptoms, including:

• Irregular periods
• Acne or excess hair growth
• Weight changes or difficulty losing weight
• Fatigue
• Fertility challenges
• Insulin resistance
• Mood changes

The previous name, PCOS, was considered misleading, as not all women with the condition have ovarian cysts.

The updated name aims to:
✔️ Improve understanding of the condition
✔️ Support earlier and more accurate diagnosis
✔️ Reflect the wider hormonal and metabolic impact
✔️ Reduce stigma and confusion surrounding the condition
✔️ Support more personalised treatment approaches
