We have all experienced what a good relationship looks and feels like. It is compassionate towards our goals, respectful about our views, equal/fair regarding personal experiences, accepting of values and trustworthy.

These principles (and similar) also work in the clinical space and is what psychologists call the Therapeutic Alliance.

According to research, the therapeutic alliance will be one of your greatest clinical tools and interventions and it is worth thinking about this along your clinical journey to remain connected with and relevant to your audience - your client - in any one moment.

Do you agree? We at PsychWorks Associates do and we are looking for case manager clinicians who agree.

If this this is you, then please be in touch. We are looking to expand with likeminded clinicians to work effectively and optimally with injury clients and their families.

Being a helping professional can be dominating, taking up lots of time and attention.

Our MD, Dr Shabnam, was reminded today in a chat with a colleague about how being a case manager can be exactly that - full-on and complicated! And that it shouldn't be so because a clinician's and service's values do not align.

The phrase "do what you love and never work a day in your life" came up and it felt fitting for working an emotionally-demanding job with like-minded and supportive colleagues sharing an ethos and philosophy.

Meet Sue Patey, our wonderful administrator. Sue has 15 years of case management admin experience with an established service so she comes to us with a solid understanding of her role. She’s already making her mark and adding such great value to our thriving service.

We love that she also connects with our environmental sustainability goals which Director Gabriel Berry-Khan is leading on.

Good admin support is a godsend for any service - we’re grateful to be able to say we have this in Sue.

Those who feel they “belong” are more likely to have meaningful relationships with others who like and them. Shared values and activities, customs and rituals offer comfort and support in these relationships which build , , connection and reduce .

Belonging is at the heart of our value and is an underpinning attitude amongst our clinicians. That said, we also have a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual team of and treating so choices are there.

Working as a mental health practitioner, it was hard to ignore how much loneliness has affected so many people. However, the fact is, loneliness was a problem long before the pandemic came. The irony is that you are unlikely to be the only one feeling lonely.

And if you work with clients, their families and their care teams, the pandemic may have ramped up that sense of threat, vulnerability, where services were closed and access to the outdoors was limited. This slideshow might explain some of the behaviours you might see in your clients and might be able to offer some ways out for them...and you.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year is lonliness, particularly in light of the pandemic.

The Mental Health Foundation believe that 1 in 4 adults feel lonely at least some of the time. The cause of loneliness is often multi-faceted and so any solution needs to consider several factors.

One thing is for sure: the longer loneliness is experienced, the more likely we are to be at risk of mental health problems.

The pandemic has reminded us of the relevance of loneliness in today's world and just how much widespread and problematic loneliness has always been.

At PsychWorks Associates, we will also be thinking about loneliness in the field and ways we can tackle it.

30/29 of the final daily invitation of this series to be you in whatever way that feels or looks.

To mark the end of Ramadan, this poem feels like it captures something so simple and pure about the strength in fostering , , , , in all and the …but let’s not forget about putting ourselves in the frame to receive these positive regards…for we are deserving, too.

May all the beautiful things in life that are right for you be bestowed on you as this Ramadan drew to a close last night.

And those celebrating Eid, Eid Mubarak - May your duas be accepted and the efforts recognised by the Almighty. Ameen 🤲🏽
