Is your child getting hives – those raised, intensely itchy welts that seem to appear from nowhere, disappear, and then pop up somewhere else? 💜
Today, on Chronic Urticaria Awareness Day, Dr Lauri-Ann Van der Poel, a Consultant Paediatric Allergist at our clinic, talks about chronic urticaria, or recurrent hives.
Urticaria is very common in children, and most episodes are short-lived. But when hives keep coming back for more than six weeks, we call this chronic urticaria. We know how incredibly frustrating this can be for children and families, particularly when it affects sleep, school, sport or simply the confidence to go about normal life.
Importantly, chronic urticaria does not necessarily mean your child has an allergy. And the good news is that you don't just have to put up with it – there are specialist treatments available.
If your child is struggling with recurrent hives, we'd be very happy to help. Tap the link in our bio to make an appointment. 💜
