The London Clinic is now offering Obe-cel, a personalised CAR-T cell therapy that uses your own immune cells to target and destroy blood cancers, including acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), particularly in patients when other treatments have not worked.

Led by Professor John G Gribben, this advanced immunotherapy uses a patient’s T-cells, which are collected, reprogrammed, and returned to the body to help identify and destroy cancer cells.

“Obe-cel is designed for patients whose cancer has not responded to standard treatments, offering another targeted treatment option for people with complex blood cancers.

The introduction of Obe-cel reinforces our expertise in cutting-edge CAR-T and cellular therapy, building on our expertise in haematology, stem cell transplantation, apheresis, and advanced cancer care” said Professor Gribben.

If you’re planning on watching today's eclipse – between around 6.15pm-8pm, make sure you do so without damaging your eyes.

Looking at the sun directly with naked eyes, sunglasses, unfiltered cameras, binoculars or a telescope can cause significant damage.

If you haven't got a pair of certified eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 safety standard, you can use a kitchen colander to indirectly observe the eclipse. Hold it above the ground with your back to the sun – the holes in the colander will project a grid of crescent suns onto the ground.

When was your last eye check-up?

If you suspect something is wrong with your eyes or just want a check-up, we aim to get you in front an expert within 48 hours. If you need urgent care services, we will do our best to see you on the same day.

The London Clinic looks forward each year to welcoming small groups of students who wish to have a career in healthcare.

It was great to receive such positive feedback from student Elke Rogers who wants to study to be a biomedical scientist.

Elke said, “Having spent the week circulating the different disciplines within the pathology labs of The London Clinic, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity. It was an enlightening week, in which I got to see how the theory we learn in lectures is applied and used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

I particularly enjoyed both the Blood Transfusions and Microbiology departments but found working in a different department each day was a great way to understand the breadth of biomedical science in general.

The passion of everyone within the Clinic, and their eagerness to explain and answer questions, helped emphasise to me that I have made the correct choice regarding what degree to study, and revealed how a job as a biomedical scientist would look in the future

Thank you for the amazing opportunity in allowing me to spend last week within the labs. I found it to be such a helpful experience and am also grateful for the kindness and patience shown by all the staff. “

Dr Ruth Pepper, Consultant Nephrologist at The London Clinic, offers treatment for patients with advanced kidney diseases, to patients who need dialysis and transplants, as well as check-ups to investigate blood or protein in urine.
