Making the most of summer

'K' a residential student from Cambian The Forum School enjoyed a fantastic summer holiday in Wareham Forest filled with new experiences, fun activities and plenty of reasons to smile.

From spending time outdoors and enjoying music to helping prepare meals and heading out for a game of bowling, he embraced every opportunity with confidence and independence. During his stay, he also enjoyed spending quality time with his mum when she came to visit, making the holiday even more special.

We're so proud of everything he has achieved during his summer break and the confidence he continues to build with every new experience.

Three weeks to go until the 2026 CareTech Children's Care Awards!

As we count down to this year's celebration, we're looking back at one of our proudest moments from last year, recognising 37 colleagues who reached 20 years of service. While not everyone could attend the awards, every milestone was celebrated.

Twenty years of dedication represents so much more than a milestone. It reflects the stability, consistency and trusted relationships that help children and young people feel safe, supported and understood every day.

For many of the children and young people in our services, familiar faces and lasting connections make a real difference. We're incredibly proud of the colleagues who have chosen to build their careers in Children's Services and the positive impact they've made over the years.

We can't wait to celebrate more of our amazing colleagues at the 2026 Children's Care Awards in just three weeks.

The members of the ‘Trowel and Error’ club at Cambian The Forum School have been busy in their allotment, enjoying a bumper harvest of broad beans which will soon be appearing on the school menu!

But the benefits go beyond the harvest. Gardening provides therapeutic opportunities to develop physical and practical skills. J has made great progress with his mobility and motor skills, including moving from standing to crouching and pulling the watering trolley.

That's why last year we teamed up with Mumsnet to share practical advice and real experiences to help make these transitions as smooth and reassuring as possible. Three brothers. One school. Countless memories.

The Storey brothers, who all attended Cambian Somerset School, recently returned to reconnect with the staff who supported them and reflect on the journey that's taken them from school into adulthood.

In this video, they share what made Somerset such a special place for them – from the friendly, welcoming environment to teachers who treated them as individuals and helped them believe in themselves. As we begin to look ahead to the new school term, we recognise that transitioning to a new school, college, class or year group can feel both unsettling and overwhelming for many young people.

Today is GCSE Results Day, and we are recognising the hard work, determination and resilience shown by young people across our schools.

While today is an important milestone for many, it is just one part of a much bigger journey. Every young person has their own path, and every achievement - from taking exams, re-engaging with learning, finding their voice or overcoming personal challenges - deserves to be recognised.
