On Saturday 5th September, I’m welcoming a small group to my Reiki Level One Practitioner Training in London.

This is a beautiful, practical and experiential day where you’ll discover the foundations of Reiki, develop your awareness of energy and learn how to bring Reiki into your own life.

What Does Reiki Feel Like?
This is probably the question I’m asked most often.

Everyone experiences Reiki differently.

Some people describe warmth.

Others notice tingling.

Some feel deeply peaceful.
Some people don’t notice very much at all.

If you took a friend to watch the sun rise over the mountains, you wouldn’t spend the whole time explaining what they were seeing.

You’d simply stand beside them, share the moment, and let them experience it for themselves.

Reiki is much the same.

As practitioners, our role isn’t to force, direct or analyse. We simply create a calm, supportive space and allow the person to experience whatever they need in that moment - it’s a quiet privilege to be part of that journey.

Time is running out for the limited number of Early Booking places which are still available - until 31 July - for our Reiki Level 1 course, which begins this September.

Reiki Level One is a beautiful introduction to this powerful healing practice. It’s a one-day course and is designed to help you feel calmer, connected, balanced, and aware - while also giving you practical skills you can use for yourself, friends, and family.

The course includes:

In your Reiki practice Gassho Meiso (hands pressed together meditation) can be understood as bringing the hands together in a gesture of unity. Although it resembles the Western idea of prayer, its meaning is broader and less about asking for something from an external source. The right and left hands represent apparent opposites—doing and receiving, masculine and feminine, intellect and intuition, self and other. Bringing them together symbolises the return to wholeness, reminding us that these dualities ultimately arise from the same source.

In Japanese arts such as martial arts, calligraphy, the tea ceremony and Reiki, the relationship between teacher and student is deeply valued.

A lineage records how knowledge has been passed from one teacher to the next. It tells the story of where the teachings came from and how they have been carefully preserved through each generation.

In Reiki, a lineage traditionally begins with Mikao Usui, the founder of the Usui System of Reiki, and continues through successive teachers to the present-day practitioner.

In my own Reiki lineage, I am only 15 teachers removed from Mikao Usui, who died 100 years ago.

The system of Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui (1865–1926), a Japanese spiritual seeker whose years of meditation, study, and self-development led to a profound awakening on Mount Kurama in 1922.

Following this experience, he developed and shared Reiki, a practice that supports balance, wellbeing, and connection with universal life energy - a tradition that continues to be practised around the world today.
