About:

I am currently the Yoga Teacher at a Reputed Ayurveda Resort located on the beach in Kalutara, Sri Lanka. I conduct daily classes for the in-house guests and also give private classes in Colombo. My love for yoga started in my childhood as I watched my father, who was a keen yoga enthusiast, follow his daily practice with various asanas including headstand and shoulders stand which fascinated my young mind. It was not much later when my father enrolled me in a Martial Arts and Yoga Institute run by his friend, the reputed teacher, Lasantha Kaluarachchi. He was an excellent teacher who nurtured me in both these field for many years. While I followed and practiced both Yoga and Martial Arts with equal interest, it soon became apparent that my passion was for Yoga. Later, my first opportunity to teach on my own came when I was sixteen years old. Sanjaya Shantha introduced me to join him to teach part-time at a well known Ayurveda Resort Hotel in Sri Lanka. We were giving regular Yoga Classes to the in-house guests of the hotel who came from all over the world to experience Ayurveda and Yoga. Soon I was filling-in for him and teaching classes on my own. This unique experience gave me the opportunity to teach yoga to beginners and advanced students of different levels, of all age groups from countries such as Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, and many other countries. Some years later, when Sanjaya Shantha left on an assignment to teach overseas, I took on the appointment to be the main yoga instructor of the resort and over the past many years, to this date I continue to teach daily at this resort. In addition, I have conducted classes in schools, tourist hotels and sports clubs. I also give private classes at Colombo and private classes to selected expats and local students.

How Environment Influences Yoga Practice πŸ§˜β€β™‚

The environment plays a vital role in enhancing the benefits of yoga. A peaceful, clean, and natural setting helps create the perfect atmosphere for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Fresh air supports deeper breathing and improves energy levels. A quiet environment helps calm the mind and improve concentration. Natural surroundings reduce stress and promote inner peace. Proper lighting and comfortable temperatures make yoga practice more enjoyable. A clean and organized space encourages mindfulness and relaxation.
Whether practiced in a serene garden, by the beach, in the mountains, or in a peaceful studio, the right environment can deepen your yoga experience and help you connect more fully with yourself and nature.
Yoga flourishes where the mind feels calm, the body feels comfortable, and the spirit feels connected to nature.
