Alcohol Awareness Week

Many people use alcohol to unwind, cope with stress, or switch off after a difficult day. While it may bring short-term relief, drinking can sometimes have the opposite effect over time, contributing to increased anxiety, low mood, poor sleep, and reduced wellbeing.

This Alcohol Awareness Week, take a moment to reflect on your relationship with alcohol:

💭 Do I drink to cope with difficult emotions?
💭 How do I feel the day after drinking?
💭 Is alcohol helping me, or is it masking how I'm really feeling?

If you're looking to cut back, try:
✔️ Planning alcohol-free days each week.
✔️ Finding other ways to relax, such as going for a walk, exercising, reading, or spending time with loved ones.
✔️ Talking to someone you trust if you're finding things difficult.

If you're struggling with your mental health or your relationship with alcohol, support is available. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

🌈 Live with Pride. Be proud of who you are.

Pride is about more than celebration. It's about creating a world where everyone feels safe to be themselves, without fear of judgement or discrimination.

Our identity, relationships, and sense of belonging all play an important role in our mental wellbeing. When people feel accepted and valued, they're more able to thrive.

As mental health professionals, one of the most meaningful things we can offer is a space where every person feels heard, respected, and supported exactly as they are.

This Pride Month, let's continue building communities where compassion, inclusion, and authenticity are at the heart of every conversation.

💙 If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, remember that support is available—you don't have to face it alone.

School holidays can bring lots of joy—but they can also be exhausting.

Remember, looking after yourself isn't selfish; it helps you show up for your children too.

This summer, try to:
☀️ Lower the pressure to make every day "perfect"
💧 Stay hydrated and eat regularly
🌿 Take 10–15 minutes just for yourself when you can
🤝 Accept help from family or friends
😴 Prioritise rest over perfection

Small moments of self-care can make a big difference.

Father’s Day!

For some, it is a day of celebration. For others, it can be a reminder of absence, grief, difficult experiences, or hopes that were never fulfilled.

Whatever your experience, your feelings are valid.

Taking a moment to acknowledge the people who have supported, guided, cared for, or believed in us can be meaningful - whether they are fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, mentors, or other important figures in our lives.

When we feel lonely, it's easy to put our own needs to one side. However, taking care of ourselves can help support our wellbeing and build resilience during difficult times.

Self-care doesn't have to be complicated. It might look like:
✨ Getting enough sleep
✨ Moving your body
✨ Spending time outdoors
✨ Nourishing yourself with regular meals
✨ Taking time to relax and recharge
✨ Doing something you genuinely enjoy

What is one act of self-care you can do for yourself today? 💭

Connection happens when we reach out. This Loneliness Awareness Week, let’s break the stigma and start the conversation. Loneliness isn’t a personal failure; it’s a deeply human experience that thrives in the shadows. Whether it’s sending a quick text to an old friend, checking in on a neighbour, or simply acknowledging your own feelings, every small action counts. You are not as alone as you feel. Let’s build spaces—both online and off—where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. 💙
