World Brain Tumour Day: Advancing Care, Empowering Patients

As we marked World Brain Tumour Day on 8 June, we reflected on the progress being made in brain tumour care and the ongoing challenges faced by patients and their families.

A brain tumour diagnosis remains one of the most complex and life-changing challenges an individual and their family can face. Yet today, there is more reason for hope than ever before.

Advances in precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, targeted therapies, immunotherapy and surgical techniques are continuing to transform cancer care. Each year brings new innovations that improve our understanding of brain tumours and create new opportunities for more effective, individualised treatment.

While these medical advances are critical, innovation in healthcare must extend beyond treatment itself.

Patients are often required to navigate a complex landscape of diagnoses, treatment options, specialist consultations and ongoing care decisions. In these moments, access to personalised, holistic support can be just as important as access to the latest therapies.

The future of cancer care is not only about delivering the right treatment—it is about helping individuals understand their options, co-ordinate care, address emotional and practical challenges, and make informed decisions with confidence.

As healthcare leaders, payers, providers, employers and patient advocates, we have an opportunity to ensure that innovation is matched by navigation, expertise and human support.

When patients are empowered with clarity and control throughout their journey, both outcomes and experiences can improve.

On World Brain Tumour Day, we recognise the resilience of patients, families, carers, clinicians and researchers who continue to drive progress forward.

Their collective efforts are helping to turn scientific breakthroughs into tangible hope for those facing a brain tumour diagnosis today.

At Medix, we believe that every patient deserves access not only to the best available medical expertise, but also to personalised guidance and holistic support throughout their healthcare journey.

As we mark International food safety day on June 7th we have shared food related insights this week.

We often talk about food security on that day, but unfortunately not enough about food safety.

Every year, unsafe food causes 600 million illnesses and 420,000 deaths worldwide. That's 1 in 10 people becoming sick from the food they eat.

As food supply chains become more global and complex, climate change accelerates, and urban populations grow, food safety risks are increasing, not decreasing.

This is not just a food issue.

It's a public health issue.
An economic issue.
A healthcare issue.

One of the most powerful forms of prevention doesn't start in a hospital, clinic, or pharmacy.

It starts with safe food on our plates.

Because food should not only be available.

It should be safe!

As we have just marked World Thyroid Day yesterday, allow us to share some important data alongside our experience in this space. It might come in useful one day.

Did you know that about 50–65% of adults will develop at least one thyroid nodule during their lifetime, especially with age. They are mostly incidental findings discovered during a regular ultrasound screening.

Between 90–95% of these thyroid nodules are benign and only need follow up.
And only between 5–10% will eventually found to be cancerous and will require surgery or treatment.

Unfortunately, over the past 15 years, there has been significant concern about the overdiagnosis, overtreatment and unnecessary thyroid surgeries. This means that many undergo surgeries for lesions that would never cause any harm.

However, when thyroid cancer is diagnosed, following clear pathology results from a biopsy, it is important to review the type of thyroid cancer, the Bethesda classification and molecular testing results, so that the most optimal and personalised treatment may be implemented.

Over the years Medix Global has gained significant experience in managing Thyroid Cancer cases and has been working with world-leading specialists to ensure no one undergoes unnecessary surgery or treatment, but that the ones who need treatment are offered the best possible solution to ensure cure and avoid future recurrence.

We are proud to share that in:

- 18.5% of possible thyroid cancer cases we chnaged the diagnosis
- In 54% of cases we recommended a different and more optimal treatment
- In 27% of cases we helped our customers avoid unnecessary thyroidectomy.

Watch Hanny's personal story below👇🏻, and discover how Medix supported her through her thyroid medical journey, from diagnosis till full cure and complete recovery, with clarity and confidence.

We are proud to have made a difference for Hanny!

Don't hesitate to reach out to us, if you, any of your beloved ones, employees or customers, are dealing with thyroid related conditions or findings.

We are committed to ensure best care is delivered and unnecessary treatment avoided, worldwide.

Behind every healthcare system, there are nurses.
The ones who stay calm during emergencies, support families through uncertainty, and bring compassion into every patient interaction.

Their impact goes far beyond treatment. They are the backbone of care, recovery, and trust in healthcare.

This International Nurses Day, we celebrate the resilience, empathy, and dedication of nurses everywhere. And more importantly, we thank them for showing up every single day. ❤️

Navigating a critical health diagnosis can be overwhelming, often leaving patients and families feeling pressured to make immediate, life-altering decisions.

In this real case story, Akshay Bhardwaj shares how the Medix' Medical Management & Care Navigation Service changed his entire medical and recovery trajectory. When initially advised to undergo major open-heart surgery following a heart attack, a global expert review and multidisciplinary discussion coordinated by Medix, suggested a far less invasive Angioplasty, stenting procedure (PCI), instead.

The result?

Great medical outcomes, faster recovery, significantly lower complication risks, and a quicker return to his family and career. This highlights the vital importance of clinical advocacy in modern healthcare, ensuring the treatment fits the patient, not just the protocol.

How Medix is Redefining the Standard of Care in India:

Change of diagnosis: 27%
Change of treatment: 69%
Avoidance of treatment, procedure, surgery: 19%

Parkinson’s disease is often understood through its clinical symptoms.
But its real impact extends far beyond the patient.

From daily routines to emotional resilience,
caregiving becomes a critical yet under-recognized part of the journey.

As healthcare continues to advance,
there is a clear need to move towards more integrated care—
where both patients and caregivers are supported.

Because effective care is not individual.
It is collective.

Sometimes, it’s not the big things.
It’s the way a place makes you feel every day.

The comfort.
The people.
The sense of belonging.
The meaningful purpose

When work feels like this,
you don’t just show up—
you grow into it.
