Is your brother okay?

If that question sits with you more than you'd like to admit, you're not alone in asking it. Every two hours, a man dies by su***de. Around 4 in 10 men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health. Not because they don't know they should, but because too many don't feel truly listened to.

We've put together practical ways to check in on him and help him feel heard which you can find by visiting the link in our bio.

Asking for help isn't always the hard part. It's the fear that no one will really listen when you do, that's what stops so many men from opening up in the first place.

If you're carrying something heavy, it's not weakness to put it down. It's not weakness to want someone to notice you're struggling. It's not weakness to need more than "you know you can talk to someone."

You deserve to be listened to, properly. Not just heard, understood.

Big news: we're heading to Morocco 🏔️

Introducing the Mount Toubkal Trek 2027, our next big adventure to help save men's lives. From 9th–13th June, we'll be taking on North Africa's highest peak, four times the height of Snowdon, through juniper forests, alpine meadows and rocky High Atlas trails, all the way to a 360-degree summit view that stretches to the Sahara.

This one's tough. Steep terrain, high altitude, real challenge. But that's exactly the point, every step you take helps us keep men and boys alive.

Fancy taking this on with us? Sign up via the link in our bio and join Team MMM in the mountains.

Shout out to anyone who's already asking questions, Mike's your man for all things Toubkal, drop him a line at [email protected].

Let's do this. 🇲🇦

The truth is: anyone could die from su***de.

Men are at higher risk. Societal pressure to be tough and self-reliant stops many from reaching out. Substance abuse, trauma, isolation, poverty, relationship breakdown, health and money struggles all add to that risk.

It's often not about wanting to die, it's about wanting the pain to stop.

That's why it matters to listen, properly listen, not just wait for someone to open up. Feeling truly heard can be the difference.

Learn the signs. Awareness saves lives.

Jude Bellingham has spoken about hiding behind a "macho athlete image" of not needing anyone, while privately needing someone to talk to.

It's a familiar pattern. Not a lack of things to say, but a lack of feeling like anyone's really listening.

That's the gap we focus on. Not just encouraging men to talk, but building the kind of environments where they feel heard when they do.

We know it feels awkward. But asking someone directly if they're suicidal is one of the most powerful things you can do.

Soft language like "having a rough time" gives people an easy way to nod along without really hearing what's being said.

Saying the word "su***de" directly closes that gap. It's harder to talk around. Harder to misread. It makes the conversation real.

That's the thinking behind Say the S Word. Find out more about our model: https://www.mensmindsmatter.org/our-model/
