Remembering a Legend: Dolly Parton

St. Vincent’s House and the residents are deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary and iconic Dolly Parton.

For many of the ladies and gents, Dolly’s music holds special memories. Some have chosen to listen to her songs, watch her music videos on YouTube, enjoy her music during therapy sessions, or simply talk about the songs they love.

One meaningful conversation this morning came when a resident shared that “Jolene” and “Coat of Many Colors” were inspired by experiences from Dolly’s own life. It sparked a beautiful discussion about how music can tell stories, bring back memories and connect generations.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, memories and stories. Your legacy will live on.

Getting Carnival Ready at St. Vincent’s!

The excitement is building as the residents get creative and decorate their own colourful masks in preparation for our St. Vincent’s Notting Hill Carnival Theme Party this Friday!

Alongside our wonderful colleagues, we were delighted to have Katie, our amazing young volunteer join the activity. Residents enjoyed choosing colours, adding decorations, sharing ideas, chatting and creating their unique carnival masks together.

Katie’s involvement brought a lovely element of intergenerational connection, friendship and shared creativity, while celebrating the vibrant culture, traditions and spirit of Carnival.

We can’t wait to see everyone proudly wearing their creations on Friday as we bring the colour, music, culture and spirit of Notting Hill Carnival to St. Vincent’s!

Another beautiful moment that matters filled with creativity, culture, laughter and togetherness.

Celebrating World Senior Citizen Day at St. Vincent’s!

What better way to celebrate World Senior Citizen Day than with music, dancing, smiles and lots of applause!

The residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of dancing as we welcomed talented dancers who treated us to beautiful Ballroom, Salsa and Tango performances.

Ladies and gents were fully engaged from beginning to end, some dancing along on the floor while others happily joined in from the comfort of their seats! There were plenty of toe taps, hand movements, swaying, smiles and even a few impressive dance moves!

Everyone was all eyes on the dancers, enjoying every step, turn and rhythm with loud applause filling the room and the biggest smiles on the residents’ faces.

Here’s to celebrating our wonderful seniors not just today but every day! ❤️

Travelling the World Without Leaving St. Vincent’s!

The residents had the opportunity to visit places they wished to go through the magic of Virtual Reality Therapy!

From beautiful destinations to places filled with special memories, residents explored different environments from the comfort of St. Vincent’s. For some, it was about discovering somewhere they had always dreamed of visiting, while for others, it brought back wonderful memories and stories from the past.

The smiles, excitement and “I remember…” moments made the session truly special!

At St. Vincent’s House, we believe that living in a care home should never limit someone’s world. With a little technology and imagination, the world is still within reach.

Different places. Different memories. Different dreams. One meaningful experience at a time.

TimeGivers Bringing Generations Together at St. Vincent’s!

We were delighted to welcome TimeGivers back to St. Vincent’s House together with their wonderful young volunteers who are making the most of their summer holidays by spending meaningful time with the residents.

Although the weather had other plans and we had to change the activities that were originally planned for the garden, it certainly didn’t stop everyone from having a fantastic time!

We brought the fun indoors with games, laughter, friendly competition and most importantly, lots of meaningful conversations between the residents and the young volunteers. There were smiles all around as different generations came together, shared stories, got to know one another and created some lovely Moments That Matter.

What made the visit even more special was hearing the children’s feedback afterwards. They told us that they would love to come back and play games with the residents again! 🥰

A wonderful reminder that sometimes, the simplest moments - a game, a conversation, a laugh can create the most meaningful connections. ❤️

Thank you TimeGivers and to all the amazing young volunteers for spending part of your summer with us. We can’t wait to welcome you back!
